Before I committed myself to this I had kept over 3 years of detailed accounts of every wager I had made. I had shown a profit in each of those three years and by researching what sports and bet types had been profitable I could in all probability make larger profits.

Now you mention flat betting so I hope I am correct in assumming this is the same amount of $ wagered on every bet. This has one purpose in that it shows you if you are a capable capper WHO could win. I have posted articles and contributed to other threads along the lines that you hare asking, and the one sound piece of advice I can give you is MONEY MANAGEMENT. You must learn to acquire the knack of knowing when to stake one unit or when a play merits a 3 unit stake.

BB great write up and info .

fletcher - thanks also learned alot from that.

kosar - your still a little shot taking dipstick.

I will add nothing to this it's been coverd well. But will back acouple of points. First I think there are only a few here that can say they made ther first play back in 1962. Back in those early days information was hard to find. So record keeping of your own was a must. A very good lesson to learn. There was not tons of coumputer sites to go to. There did not have news papers full of info. Just the basics stats. But they did talk about rivals. Was one of the first things I picked up on. How do teams do week before a game with a old rival and the week after. We had only a few pro Over/Under plays. Cant remember any in college ball. No half time wagers. And really no way if you had them to play them. You had to be in Vegas for such items. But then I read some stuff one time from a guy called Lem Banker. And a year or two later a outfit called footbll news became avaliable. In there I was able to learn more. So today i say find and use all info you can. Im not looking to start a war on units that shoud be played. But flat or same amont on each game. Should be used only if you do not feal you have any bigger edge in any games. I feal each week some should be worth at least 1/2 unit upto 2 unit more. I dont go over 3 units. I never have more then 15% of my bank roll up at any given time. So keep good records. Get as much info as you can but double checkit all. And M/M must be followed. I could be broke at least 4/5 times last 40 years. But M/M was the key. No I did not do this for aliving. But worked hard for my money and did not care to just give it away. GL

Kosar, your a dick!! I'm sick and tired of your fawking negative attitude when you decide to grace us w/your insightfu posts:nono:

Either you are jealous of Nolan's life or maybe his writing ability, but you need to let it go. I've never seen you posts anything helpful, all you do is bitch and you never start any threads, because if you did, 90% of the people on this site wouldn't read it.

What are you a big tough guy bashing mike, a 20 something kid who's having fun here @ MJ's. I've seen your picture from one of the SB party, you don't look that tough to me:shrug: Oh and 1 more thing, you better watch out Nolan might decide to lower himself to your level and bitch slap you:eek: :D

BB, we may have had our differences in the past, but your writing ability is incredible. Good Luck

thanks skulldog.....Yea, so Im a younger guy, we're ALL trying to beat the books, except this idiot who likes harping on negativity, nolan has helped me immensely personally and answered my questions, and has contributed all those sportsbook reviews and halftime angles to the site, for you to bash him, nobody wants to hear it, Im not a Nolan apologist, he doesnt pay me and I dont bet his plays, but his writing and knowledge is excellent......hell, if anyone here can be a pro capper go try it, I did for a short time, it's flat out brutal, you gotta have balls of steel, but this is america, you can do anything if you're smart and lucky enough, I've seen guys at the golf course I worked at be millionaires without finishing high school, so my motto is really anything's possible, and do what you set your heart to do, but try to keep reality in check, Ive been through a lot for a young guy not as much as you vet's, but thats why i post questions and things for advice, madjacks is a great thing going, and we all need to use it to beat the man and help each other with everything, take it easy, g luck to all as always

I'm sorry that you feel that way, skulldog. And i'm sorry if I hurt NYSportsfans feelings. You guys just keep on keepin' on.

p.s.-thanks for the warning about the SB party. It wouldn't surprise me if Nolan snapped. It seems like he's almost on the brink even on a good day. Maybe i'll cancel my plans.

You oughta come out for it, man. It's a great time!

What do you guys think about horse betting vs. sports betting, is one easier is one more profitable? Also what do you think about teasers? I like using 4 team 13 point teasers and taking the over (football). Your thougths please.

aus brought a great point up i left out you better be able to have means of re-upping your bank when you go broke cause you will i did twice and had to have help , with out the means to do that i would of been done and the help that someone took me under their wing out here was huge.

djv i had thought about what you said many times before about info i was not even thinking 60's i was think late 70's and early 80's it was not there it had to be unreal to try to win talk about a edge they the book must of had a hell of one back then and even more the earlier you go, i am sure sports betting has been around along time with books as a kid do you remember it being around? like cards or my dad talked a lot about pulling tips never really ask him what the hell that was but guess it was big in the 50's and 60's at the local bar , do you know what pulling tips are.

as for kosar not going to say much matt is a friend you guys can say what you want , this is all i am going to say well 2 things matt is a great person when you meet him, it is hard to judge on the net. 2nd and i have no doubt on this and not going to say anymore about it then what i am going to say right now. I promiose matt knows more about the aspects of sports handicapping lines and how things are run then anyone on this site, i know for a fact. that is all i will say on that matter.

djv when you get time get back to this about what tips are or were and how far back do you remember sports wagering ? and with out the info that can be got know with the pc you would have no chance of making it.

and if you think you won't bust out at least twice you are fooling yourself and yes you can make good money but the life style is not really the greatest trust me, i like it but i also get very pissed off and cranky over things if i was still coaching would not bother me and it is because of the pressure. and if you don't turn it into a corp like i did i would think it would be very hard to do and retire someday, i also had played ball and coached for a long time so i had things behind me to fall back on and some paid into ssi and medicare or what ever they hell you get later in life. but to do this full time it has to be ran as a corp and that was the number 1 reason i started a service to have a real corp not a s-corp. i am able to get my benifits from that not saying how but i do and trust me it is not from the service money it is from my own money, but the corp. gives me ways of useing my money.

Fletch, I respect what you do for this site, and your kind ways, but to try to sell us on what kind of person Kosar is, doesn't fly w/me. If he knows so much why doesn't he post knowledgeable line info etc, instead of bashing anyone and everyone:mad:

We all can be hotheads at times, but he is a negative shit. I can even tolerate Bean Bag @ times at least he's funny:moon:
I'm thinking he needs the attention here, since he's proably not getting it @ home:shrug:

Skulldog,

Your negative attitude is bringing me down, man.

I certainly don't bash 'anyone and everyone'. Just because I call 'bullshit' on certain people every now and then doesn't make me a basher. You've been around here a long time and I think that your judgment is clouded by *who* i'm addressing in this thread. You know damn well that I don't run around bashing everybody.

Some people here consider him an icon and I realize that I will get flack anytime I speak of him in anything but a positive light. That's fine, but you're getting a little dramatic.

As far as info and broader discussions that extend beyond 'plays of the year' and 'throw it down', I learned a long time ago that the majority have no interest in that. And the majority who *do* have an interest either have left altogether or have severely reduced their posting. I used to get involved quite a bit in those discussions and started the topic a lot of times.

That's all fine also, things change, people leave. However, I have no desire to have conversations with myself.

As far as sniping sometimes, well surely you can understand that as much as you find me annoying, that's how I feel about a handful of people here.

And you also should know that a *lot* of people agree with me on this type of issue, the silent majority I would say, but don't feel like getting involved and I don't blame them.

And don't you worry about Nolan and me. We'll be slugging whiskey, not each other, together again in vegas in just a few months. The drinks are free at the party, but i'm gonna make his tip for him on his first drink. Whaddya think about that gesture?

You take care now, Skulldog. :)

Kosar, I can't recall when I've read anything of substance in any of your posts combined w/the bashing of NY, Nolan( which I don't idolize, but respect his writing and info) and if you think he sucks as a capper, then fade him and you'll).

It's not a vendetta, I'm commenting on what I read, that's all.

I'm done w/this thread
