THE WINNER OF THE SUGAR BOWL/BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE DEEMED "THE BCS NATIONAL CHAMPION" BECAUSE OF THE BCS AGREEMENT. THAT TEAM WILL BE #1 IN THE COACHES' POLL DUE TO SAID AGREEMENT.
The loser of the Sugar Bowl will finish no higher than #3 for the year in both the AP & Coaches' polls (given that both #4 Michigan and #5 Texas lost convincingly in their respective bowl bames).
Depending on if, and how, Ohio State or Tennessee (#5 and #6 in the polls) win their bowl games, there is a small possibility that the loser of the Sugar Bowl with drop to #4 as a result.
Oklahoma stands to drop the furthest should they lose, and either Ohio St. or Tennessee wins, because they are currently #3.
USC, HAVING WON THE ROSE BOWL, WILL FINISH #1 IN THE AP POLL . THE TROJANS WILL BE #2 IN THE COACHES' POLL DUE TO THE BCS AGREEMENT.
