I understand the first part of the line but not the second part (after the "or") MONTREAL 5un
PHILADELPHIA -? -160 or 1-1?
I don't know how to read the 1-1? part of this line. Can someone please explain this?
Also the following:

Thanks!

ok, here's your answer:

If you take Phil -1/2 -160 it means Phil has to win by a goal to win your wager and if you take them at -1 1/2 it means they have to win by at least two goals but your line is at even money instead of laying -160.

I really love Phil to win tonight and i would take -1/2 if i was you. Hate to see a team winning by one and you lose because you took them at -1 1/2...

First off, thanks for trying to explain this. I understand the first part of the line but the I still don't understand the second part. What you say does not make sense if you apply the same reasoning to other games. For example, you say I would be laying even money for -1? goals. I would assume that you are saying even money meaning that 1 is the same thing as +100. But then other lines are listed as Ev-? so I don't see how 1-1? is what you say it is. Here is another example that would not hold true using your explination: -1? -105 or 1-1? The first part would say lay 1? goals @ -105 and the other part would read lay 1? goals at Even money. This can't be right. Since I don't know how to read it I certainly can't say you are wrong but I don't understand what you are explaining. I don't mean any harm by my comments but just want to understand how to read the whole hockey line.
Thanks!

Philly-1/2-160 160/100
Philly-1.5 EV 100/100
Philly ML-270 270/100
Philly UN5-130 130/100

Not all teams would have a (1.5) line..
Pay high juice on the ML,but if the game TIE
u get your money back..
Hope this Helps..

Maybe I'm not being clear on what I don't understand. I follow all the puck lines +/- ? a goal or 1? goals with a money line whether its EV/+100 or +120 or -130 or whatever it may be. I get all that but I don't understand the part after the "or". For example:
BUFFALO -? -115 or Ev-?

CHICAGO -? -150 or ?-1

NEW JERSEY -1? -105 or 1-1?

What do these mean?
Ev-?
?-1
1-1?

Sorry to be such a pain. Thanks again.

If you use the puck line...i.e. 1-1 1/2 you usually don't pay juice because the difference in the line is the juice. If you tonight you liked Phil on the puck line, you are minus 1.5 pucks. If you took Montreal (the dog) you would be recieving 1 puck...ergo Montreal could lose by 1 goal and your bet would push....but those that bet the fav at -1.5 would lose.
Same for any puck line. The right number is at least a -.5 (the fav) and the left is at least even (the dog). Say tommorrow for example, you bet the puck line on the Carolina-Buffalo game. If you bet Buff you are laying -.5; if you bet Car you are even. A tie game would result in a loss for those on Buff and a push for those on Carolina.

OK, now its becoming clearer. Thanks all (esp. alb) Guess I was just a bit slow on that one.

To 1837, I appologize because you were right but I just wasn't understanding. From what I can gather, there are Three ways to bet a hockey game (as far as sides go).
ML
Puck Line
and a mix of the ML & Puck Line

From looking around on other sites, I would also guess that you would not find both the Puck Line and the "mixed" line at the same book. It all seems pretty simple now.
Thanks again!
