Can we please change the OT rules in NFL?

Under the new rules, had Dallas scored a TD on the first possession, would they have kicked an extra point? I had Dallas +6.5 and thought I had it locked when it went to ot but if GB had won the toss I may have lost?

I think I think they changed the rule to have both teams possess the ball unless there’s a safety
