The F1 fever and Villeneuvemania is in town!
BTW, Villeneuve was here in Sherbrooke on tuesday night at a local concert while Panis and Hakkinen were doing Quads and Seadoo in a nice place not so far from Montreal. There is also a famous place were drivers (some of them)like to go while they are in here:the well famous topless bar "Chez Par?" but no, i'm not going to give you names!
Oh man, it is so much fun being so close of a F1 race. You can get all the infos needed!
ok, let's get serious
data:
Length: 4,421 km
Nb of Laps: 69 (305,049 Km)
Best Lap:
M. Hakkinen - 1'19"049
(2000, McLaren-Mercedes)
Record Pole:
D. Coulthard - 1'18"213
(98, McLaren-Mercedes)
2000 Pole:
M. Schumacher - 1'18"439
(Ferrari)
2000 Podium:
Schumacher - Barrichello - Fisichella
On Gilles Villeneuve track, we could say that M. Schum is the master of the pole! Having 5 pole position over the last 7 years and won the race here 4 times during that time. As always, a strong contenders. BMW/Williams have a powerful engine and that track has long straight lines that permit overtaking and high speed. An advantage for them? Well, it will depend of Michelin tyres. If they hold on, we could see Montoya or Ralf at a nice place on the starting grid.
The track is probably the hardest of all on brakes because of it's two chicanes so the set up will be vital. About the weather forecast, so far we have 30% of rain for the weekend so it shouldn't be a factor.
Jacques Villeneuve had spent most of the week at his new restaurant "newtown" (means villeneuve in french)and he seems in a great state of mind. Told to journalists that he will try for a podium but honestly, he doesn't have the car to make it! Even thought Jacques has curiously been unlucky (is it because his roots are here or because the track has been name in honor of his father?) in Montreal, i expect him to have a good qualifying and will definitely put $$$ on him unless lines reaches sky high!
I've talked to Mark at camelot and we might have some qualifying match ups too! With OLY and GCS (and betroyal for the race). We are starting to have plenty of lines in F1!
Hey DJV, i have a good news for you: You won't have to wake up in the middle of the night for that one!
No white nights for guys from eastern america!
All free practices will be televised here so i'm licking my chops!
Qualifying session: Saturday 1h00 pm EDT
Race:Sunday 1h00 pm EDT
see ya later!
