Miami -3 over Rhode Island
Canes are much quicker almost everywhere on the floor.They have a size difference,rebound well,play pressure defense that sets up there offense.RI has some good players coming back in Hellenga,Woodward and depth in the backcourt.Baron should of won the national coach of the yr award.What he has done in 2 yrs is amazing.
But Miami has greyhounds everywhere.Rice the 6'10 inside-outside scorer will be tough to stop.Throw in Frisby who is 6'8 and 6'9 Hamilton and the Rams have big time matchup problems.Rams biggest weakness is in the paint.Thats what everybody did to them in the A-10.Pound it inside and hit the off bds.Mack and Robinson are a pair of good 6'6 fowards but rebounding is not their strength.Momplasir is their one post player but he's not an offensive threat.
Canes will pressure URI into forced turnovers.URI also is not a good 3 pt shooting team and not a good FT shooting team.
Canes wins this controlling the bds and have a stud in Rice.
Butler +1.5 over Northern Iowa
NIU has some good players in Schniederman,Gruber and Jacobson.They can score but Butler is one of the best defensive teams in the country.They did lose good talent to graduation but Brooks,Lightfoot,Parker and Monserez can all play.Butler can shoot the ball,doesn't make mistakes and plays the D.NIU is in trouble tonite.
Western Kentucky +4 over VCU
Wrong team is favored.WKU did lose Marcus and their coach.But with some Juco transfers,esp Haynes and Dixon they have re-loaded.They have size and are much more athletic then VCU.VCU is a good team with some balanced scoring but I think they are overmatched tonite.WKU frontline should dominate.Wells is the top defensive plr in the conf.WKU wins
