Vancouver Canucks defenceman Sami Salo is out indefinitely after suffering a hairline fracture in his left wrist in an intrasquad game on Sunday.

Salo, who tallied 14 goals and 23 assists for the Canucks last season, was at GM Place for training camp on Monday, but he did not skate. The club is hoping he will only be out for three or four weeks.

Roberto Luongo, who was hit in the throat with a puck on Sunday, practiced with the team on Monday.

''It feels sore but nothing serious,'' Luongo told the Canadian Press.

Luongo does not wear a plastic shield to protect his throat.

''I'm still pondering the idea,'' Luongo told the Canadian Press. ''I've got to see what's more important, getting hit in the neck once or twice a year or letting in a couple of goals where you can't find the puck in your feet.'
