Captain Crunch, KU/MU fans - any good ticket prospects for the border war?

Hey, Captain (or anybody)...was talking to a buddy here about coming down for a fun trip to Arrowhead for the big game - we'd want to do it somewhat on the cheap, but would like to have a good time. What are ticket prospects around there? Probably not so good, I would guess. Let me know if you have any ideas, let me know. We'd probably come down really early on Saturday and stay Saturday night somewhere. Would get there early enough to tailgate for a while, then party it up later that night.

Thoughts? I'm gonna check things out online, but thought the locals might have a good feel for it.

Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen. I bought 43 last February for me and my friends through the Chiefs. Only 2 of them are mine and not one of the other people I bought them for is giving their ticket up. As I told Vinnie, I have had not less than 100 people asking me and my dad if I have any extras. A buddy of mine said he heard that good ones were going for $700 a piece, and that was before they both won yesterday. The KC Star reported this morning that there is gonna be alcohol sales at this game. I'm not sure that is a good thing, as this rivalry is pretty heated as it is. If I hear of any extras, I will let you know, but there is already a big line in front of ya.

Yeah, I understand. Was more talking about the staying than the tickets - I realize the cost is pretty high for the tickets, especially now. I did see some interesting prices on Stubhub when looking this AM, far less than the big money, but that may change.

I appreciate any info, and I'll be looking for options, and holler at you if we do come down. Heck, maybe we'll just come down for the party and listen to the game in the parking lot on Sirius...lol.

Officially skipping the trip, as much as I would like to come. A buddy's band is playing on Wednesday night here, so going to use up my free pass out for the weekend on that.

Cap'n...who do you see winning this thing when all is said and done? Are you wearing your Mizzou black shades or do you think KU will continue their roll? I think Daniel will be the difference in this one, personally, and the Tigers will get it done. But I have not watched the Tigers at all this season, and know nothing of their defensive capabilities - which will be important this week.

no offense, but this could be one of the funnier lines i've read in a while....it sounds straight out of the art schlister book of gambling from prison.

Okay, that's fair...I should clarify...I have not watched them much, but I have looked at some numbers and paid attention to spreads/performance. I have a lot of faith in what Daniels personally and the Tiger offense can do, I just have not seen enough of the defense in a lot of different situations to know how they'll react to KU.

I really don't take offense to the Schlister reference, as I used to listen to a local radio show who had him for a weekly gambling segment which was really funny. You are on the money with your analogy...I could have written a game pick for him with my initial post. In fact, your post is really funny...thanks for calling me out on it...:142smilie

not sure if you ever heard the tapes of him when he was in prison making bets over the phone that got recorded but we still laugh about it today:

bookie: your total is 3500

schlister: great, am i up or am i down?

A friend sold six tickets, 2 on the 40 and 4 in the corner, all lower level, to a ticket broker for $1,800. I still have my four and plan on going.

No way in hell I'm givin mine up. I was on Ebay last night looking at what some people are paying just out of curiosity. Unbelievable.

Chadman, I can't see this being anything less than a shoot out. (big surprise) The Tigers D is average at best IMO, and its no secret the KU can put up some big numbers. It will probably come down to who has the least # of TO's or who has the ball last. I hope MU gets their special teams crap fixed. Has been less than stellar the last few weeks. Ought to be a great game and can't wait to go. Don't know that I was much help from a handicapping angle, but there is going to be a ton of emotion in this game, and that has never been an easy thing to handicapp.

Good Luck

Funny stuff, gjn...:mj07:

Hey, Captain...have a blast at that game - it should be one to remember. I plan on watching it with a buddy and throwing a little at it. I'll look ahead at next year, and we'll have to plan something solid. Do you have hoops tickets, too? Maybe I'll start looking at the Big 12 hoops tourney weekend. That's always great, although we are headed to Hawaii in March - might preclude anything else.
