There's an employee who we pay a $400/month car allowance to, and we also pay for his gas. In his last expense report he submitted a bill for $325 for a wheel bearing for his car.

My question is this, should I reject the expense and say that's what we pay you the auto allowance for? That was my first thought, but just wanted other opinions on this.

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
c,
Even though you are a "Bear Fan", I will answer your question:mj07:

Ask him if he would rather have the $400 allowance or have you pay for the car and maintenance. If he opts for the later, tell him to pick out either the Ford Focus, or the Geo Metro. I'm sure he see the bigger picture :SIB

Thanks, I told him I wasn't going to approve it. I figure if I approve that, what the hell am I paying him an allowance for. He was ok with it.

When I told him I wouldn't accept it, he just said he didn't know, so he figured he'd throw it on there. It's not specifically stated in the contract what the auto allowance covers which is why I asked.

He's an easy going guy so I didn't think it would be a problem.
