Carlos Zambrano got into a shoving match with Michael Barrett and left the ballpark early after giving up seven runs -- six earned -- in five innings Friday against the Braves.
Zambrano and Barrett argued in the dugout after a cross-up passed ball played a big role in a five-run fifth inning. Zambrano had been working with Henry Blanco lately, but with Blanco going on the DL, he and Barrett were teamed up today and Zambrano struggled, though that had a lot to do with some awful defense. Ryan Theriot lost an easy popup in the sun to lead to a run in the first, and another run scored in the fourth when Matt Murton had a shallow fly go off his glove. Those were the only two runs before the fifth. Had the Cubs played better behind him today, things could have turned out a lot differently for Zambrano. As is, he may be facing some discipline from the team over his actions.
