Balls Deep
Carolina heads up to charlottesville to face the nationally ranked Cavs without having won at UVA since 1981. The trend should continue today if week 1 is any indication of what is in store. Last weeks game against W&M was a bit deceiving if you look at the numbers. On one hand, the offense turned the ball over 4 times in the 1st half. Two of those turnovers gave W&M the ball with 1st and goal from inside the 5. At the same time, one has to ask if the turnover trend will continue. UNC had one of the worst turnover ratios last year in D1. On the plus side, the defense which has been simplified since last year was much quicker off the ball. Unfortunately, our players still haven't learned the art of tackling yet.
On the offensive side of the ball, UNC's running game looked good but it's hard to gauge against a D1A defense.

So what to expect today. I think it's a tough call, when the line opened and moved to 22 instead of playing it early I decided I needed to think about this one a little more. Here's how I see things. On offense, I think we will be fine. IMO, Bunting will come out trying to establish the running game. It will be interesting to see how we fare against UVAs very strong d-line. Our offensive line is actually pretty strong, but they haven't faced a defense like UVA so it's hard to say. I think we will try to run but will get shut down which will force Durant to put it in the air. I think we will be able to gain some yardage on UVAs secondary. Defensively, unless things change from the last 15 games, I think UVA will run the ball down our throat. Last week we had trouble stopping the run against W&M. There is no reason I can see that tells me we will be able to contain UVA.

The final verdict: I think 22 is a lot for UVA to cover. I can honestely see us getting blown out by 30. But the way I see it, our offense should put up at least 17-21 points. If that is the case, UVA needs to put up at least 45 on us. Which is definitely possible, and why I will cover myself with the over. I'm taking the 22 and the over 59. As long as we can put up 17-21 on the board (which I really think we can), even if UVA covers the 22 it will go over the total. Because this is the first "real" game of the year for these two, I'm going to play these small.

Plays:

Carolina +22 1 unit
Over 59 1 unit

Good luck this weekend fellas
