Wizzard,

On the surface, I really like this play. . . AZ blew them away last year. However, the Cats will have to speed up the game just as they did last year but will St. Louis allow them to? Last year the game was close for a while as they wouldn't allow Arizona to run the floor but the Cats finally found ways with their defense. I have read all the material I can on this one and I think Lute will put on a full court press but I'm just not sure because he mentioned that his team needs to be patient against opponents that will slow the game down like St. Louis. When I first saw this total, I couldn't believe my eyes at 134.5 for an Arizona game this year but it all comes down to how well the Cats speed this game up.

Interesting note: Just think about this one. . . Arizona loses to Florida by 1 point. . . if Arizona had won this game by a single point, they would be #1 in the country right now instead of #8. . . do you think they would be anything less than double digit favorites heading into this one? Not a chance!

There may be some value taking Arizona today and maybe I'll go with you Wizzard for some fun but it all comes down to how well the Cats speed the game up to their liking.

don't believe lute will want to push the tempo much in this spot, with short roster, consecutive road games and texas in the garden coming up on tuesday.

I AGREE BUT I THINK THIS GAME SHOULD COME DOWN TO STRAIGHT TALENT...AZ'S TALENT SHOULD BE ENUFF FOR DOUBLE DIGIT COVER, ESPECIALLY AFTER LOSS TO FLA........STL WILL TRY TO SLOW THE PACE AND MAKE AZ PLAY THIER GAME BUT, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN AZ TAKES A MIDDLE SIZE LEAD THEY WILL HAVE TO COME OUT AND PLAY THEN.....TALENT WILL TAKE OVER THEN.

loophole,

That's a good point with Texas coming up which should be a run and gun game. . . however, Lute has said from the beginning that he will push AZs advantage as much as possible with running the floor. After a made basket or a rebound, they will push that ball up the floor as much as possible. If you watched the Florida game, it was obvious how much quicker Arizona was up the court but they would turn the ball over too much which negated their advantage. Now whether they will try and full court press on defense isn't as easy to predict given how unsuccessful they were last year with it. They also tried a full court press against Northern Arizona for a while and just could not obtain enough turnovers vs. easy baskets for the Lumberjacks.

I'm thinking about waiting till halftime on this one to see how well St. Louis is able to slow down the game and frustrate Arizona.
