Trying to decide on either a Nextel or AT&T for my next cell phone. Can anyone out there give me any advice on these two? I got Sprint now and am not really happy with the reception, and the plan I am on. If I change plans then I must re-up for another year, don't really want to do that. There is so much to choose from that I am in the dark and need someone to shead some light on this for me. Thanks in advance.

i'm a big fan of ATT's new GSM service -- $40/mo gets you 1000 minutes or $100 gets you unlimited. 2yr contract is the max (but you can sign for less).

it also allows you to get the internet through the phone for a slight additional charge.... biggest problem with the plan is a limited coverage area depending on where you travel to. it's expanding constantly, but still isn't up to par with their existing OneRate, depending on your needs.

Overall, you reallly need to examine your needs and your wants and figure out what you want to spend/save and then go from there....sometimes getting slightly cheaper plan but a card for pay phones is the way to go, depending what you need. or if your business picks upa hotel call when you need it.

i've gone into these plans a lot recently so write me back if you want any personal advice.

have heard alot of positive comments on Nextel. Two-way feature awesome, as long as you know others that have Nextel service. Hope this helps you a little..........

it's a special protocol that is used to transmit text and images to wireless devices. i'm not sure of the details from a computer standpoint, but the end result is that you can view websites that have support for wireless devices. the madjacks page is too complex for my phone, i dont know if it would work on one with a bigger screen or not.

i go to espn and the news websites alot and also have it set up so i can send/receive email from my regular Cox Cable account. it's pretty convenient for the email functions and you can also do like aol messenger and some stuff like that. checking scores and odds and stuff like that.

it also has a cool feature that can give you directions to an address from wherever you are -- it bases it off the nearest towers and stuff and you can usually get pretty accurate directions within a block or two of your location. it's pretty handy if you travel and then you can type in a restaurant name and it will tell you how to get there.

some other little things like that which arent life changing but definitely worth the $8/month extra

G-hawg, we just switched our business phones over to Nextel for the 2 way feature which is awesome. I have been told that once you get out of metro areas and off the major interstates the reception is terrible, but we don't travel far out of the metro for biz, so that is not a problem for us. Where you live and where you travel would be a definite priority in looking at Nextel. I have never used AT&T so I can't comment on them. My personal phone is Verizon and I am very happy with it. Reception is great and they have big coverage area.

TV, there aren't to many plans that allow you to rollover your minutes in the states. A few are out there, but I am not familiar with the company and what type of reception and coverage they have. My old plan with Verizon had it, but they discontinued it last year.

If you don't know anybody else using Nextel and the two way feature, there are probably better phones out there as far as comverage and reception is concerned.
