Wasnt gonna play these games but I had quite the day in NCAA BB earlier, so I'll give 'er a shot anyhow.

Both these games are pretty much coinflips. Homefield in the playoffs is huge, and that determines who is favored in the close ones, and tomorrow features two teams that absolutely THRIVE ON HOMEFIELD. Both are top 5 in terms of teams that play better at home, and I think thats the only reason they're favored. History has shown us that hot teams with good defense can come riding into town on this weekend and upset the higher seeded home favorite though, and I think thats exactly what we see tomorrow.

Pittsburgh +3.5

Dont feel that strongly about this game. I see alot of folks chalking up Pittsburgh's big win last week as more of a "colts failure" than a Steelers success. Wrong. Pittsburgh is 4-0 ATS and SU in its last 4 games against teams with winning records. Because of who they've beaten, I've been saying the last couple weeks that THEY were the hottest NFL team, not Washington or NE. Truth be told, they have the talent to sustain their momentum unlike the NE defense and the 'skins.
Everyone's been waiting for Jake Plummer to take a dump one of these games. Well hold your nose b/c here it comes. He was shaky at best last weekend, engineering MASTERFUL scoring drives of 4, 7, 1, 40 (pass interference call) en route to beating NE. Tomorrow his luck runs out against a better defense.

Pittsburgh 20 Denver 10

be back with other game in a little

Carolina +3.5

Feel MUCH more strongly about this game. May even add a ML play before gametime. This is being billed as quite the matchup, and I'm sure everyone is having a hell of a time capping it. I think it boils down to this. Can Carolina stop Alexander? After eliminating Tiki Barber two weeks ago, I believe they can. They will force Seattle to beat them passing the football, very similar to the gameplan against NY. The question is, will Hasselback carry the pressure and the team like Manning couldnt do?

On defense, Seattle did NOT impress me last week. The Washington offense is abysmal. Granted Seattle overcame losing Alexander and 3 turnovers to cover a 9 point spread, but their defense, particularly in the secondary looked bad in MUST STOP situations. Lets face it, this is the playoffs, there will be plenty of must stop situations tomorrow, and I'll take the combo of Delhomme/Smith against that defense any way you draw it up.

The only aspect of the game I'm shaky on is panther's offense w/o foster, and some of the other injuries. Peppers would be a huge loss, but I say 95% that guy suits up tomorrow. All my coin would be on the ML w/o the injuries, I do know that.

Carolina likes to strike first. With their defense, its no shocker they play well with the lead either. Seattle has PLENTY of offense, just like Giants did, but playing from behind, with the run shut down, will force the offense into predictable situations. Seattle backers will be fighting an uphill battle all afternoon, with a team thats trailing, hoping for a miracle cover. Carolina should win SU, and I have 2 scenarios, one with them winning by MORE THAN 10, and another where they win by 1-3. Remember where you heard it first though. I wouldnt be shocked to see Carolina win by double digits. I will be conservative in my prediction and call it:
Carolina 24 Seattle 19

haha thanks, both small plays for me, but hard not to take some kinda action on these games, ya know? I know you're on the other side in both, I guess if we each split we'll both be happy right?
