Based on initial tests, Chargers believe WR Keenan Allen has suffered a major knee injury.

They suspect an ACL tear. Will have more tests

So, who will step up for SD? Rivers provided some hints in his postgame quotes...

?They couldn?t cover him, and they knew they couldn?t cover him,? Philip Rivers said. ?I don?t think there are too many guys like him that are just sitting, waiting for a phone call for a Tuesday workout, so we?ll have to do it by committee. Obviously Travis (Benjamin), we will see what he has production-wise (and) start trying to find more ways to get it to him. Tyrell (Williams) will have to pick up the slack, and Isaiah (Burse) and (whoever) else we (add) to the group.?

I'm not sure that Benjamin is up to the task, although he was the leader in targets today. His YPC left something to be desired with 7 catches for 32 yards. Benjamin was signed to be more of slot/Y receiver, so not the position Allen plays. If you're looking for the downfield threat to replace Allen, it's probably Tyrell Williams. It's interesting that Rivers didn't mention Dontrelle Inman, who is listed as the X receiver behind Allen on the depth chart. He had a few big games for the Chargers last year when Allen was lost for the season, although he's a long shot to be any kind of factor fantasy-wise. One thing to consider is that he's in his 3rd year in the NFL, which is typically when some of these young WRs break out. Keep in mind that Inman is 27 years old and started his pro career in the Canadian league before signing with the Chargers in 2014.

Well, they play Jacksonville next. After how they looked today vs GB, this may be interesting to see unfold.

Hate that for Allen, he is a solid out, and definitely not good news for SD
