To be fair I think Strong was out either way. I don't think you pass up Herman if you are Texas.

Losing to Kansas though really seals it though. He is toast. His team didn't really help him much turning it over 6 times but they had the game won and let Kansas drive down the field with 58 seconds left and no timeouts to kick a game tying FG, then tossed a pick on the 2nd play in OT and Kansas went down to the goal line and kicked a FG.

Texas Boosters and AD are kicking themselves in the ass for not retaining Mack Brown for at least one more season. No way they get Herman.

With LSU open, Texas probably going to open, two high profile programs are going to want someone high profile and Herman will have the winter to think about what he wants to do. He put a mark on the recruiting world in landing that freshman DT/DE who tore Lamar Jackson a new a-hole!!

There won't be as many big time jobs open this season as in years past.

I like Kingsbury as an "OC" not as a head coach.

Coaches who can recruit and proven to do so are going to get those high profile jobs.

Orgeron is a "D" specialist and you can't understand half the shit he says, he had his shot with Ole Miss and did nothing, he might be a lower D1 school type job, but that's about it, he's best suited to be an associate HC or coordinator.

Purdue is open as well.

Les Miles will return to coaching but doesn't need the money with what he has left that LSU owes him.

It'll be interesting to see which direction Texas goes for sure. LSU as well.

Jimbo got divorced and may end up wanting to move away from Tallahasee, but he had a good recruiting class and he's committed on paper to be at FSU so long as his QB is there.

Interesting off season to say the least will be coming up.

WB, Herman has said that Texas is his dream job. If Texas offers him, he'll take it. Those close to him think he's gone after this season.

Good thing Texas has their own TV contract, because that will be the only way to afford him. LOL.

I like the guy, he's a great recruiter and coordinator and his kids that play for him love him and he's proven he can recruit in Texas in the 2 years he's been there, if the job comes open officially, I'm sure he'll jump at it but LSU won't let him go quietly.

Having been a big Texas fan since the days of Darrel Royal and seeing James Street play for them along with Steve Wooster, I yearn for the days that Texas can get back to what they once were. They did win a Nat'l Championship didn't they with Mack Brown and Vince Young?

They need a young, stable guy who can recruit and Herman fits that bill.

I think Texas can afford to pay Herman, with or without the LHN, lol. I've heard that LSU is very focused on Jimbo Fisher.

First and foremost I HATE UT but I understand the brand and money. Because of that I think they're taking a big chance hiring Herman. They have no clue if he's really a good coach or just caught lightning in a bottle with some good players at Houston. And for the record, most coaches have won at Houston.(Sumlin, Briles) What if Herman is simply another Strong. Strong looked good at Louisville but would he if he didn't have Bridgewater as his QB?

If I'm UT I go after one coach and one coach only. Chip! They can afford to money whip him as much if not more than any other team. He's proven as a coach and with the players he would get at UT it might be pretty scary. For all of his year at Oregon he never had classes like he would have in Austin.
