Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Might just go for Prior at -142

Might just go for Prior at -142

Sure he's been shaky of late, but this is just the spot for him to shine--something he's good at.

or maybe better the Prior 5 inning line at -135.

Those CWS bats can be tough, but Cubs aint bad either. Ramirez and Lee strong now. Alou and Sosa in particular have hit Garland hard in past.

Garland sports 5.64 era at home this season, 5.46 at night and 8.05 last three starts......5.75 era and 1.62 whip vs Cubs in 7 career games (three starts)---20.1 innings, 23 hits, 13 runs 13 eruns, 5 hr, 10 walks and 13 so.

but just noticed (edit) it is a day game. Garland has good day numbers this season (3.38 era), but that's not the usual with him previous three seasons. Prior's best career era numbers are on road in day.

But then again, CWS 5-1 vs Cubbies last season....

The battle of two Cubs first-rounders. Line seems about right where it should be. Garland's been untouchable in the first five innings as of late, so there's little benefit in the five inning line. These games never make any sense to me, so I'll probably just be watching this weekend, But Garland at home at +140 sounds delicious.

Just my 2 cents.......

Prior needs to re-assume his role as the stopper after the we pooped our pants in StL. Play-off atmosphere today and if we have a gamer wearing blue, its him. From a business perspective, these games piss the numbers right out the window, so its tough to call.

Best price you'll see on Prior the rest of the way. He's better than Garland and he's ready to increase the workload. I think its the North side today.

After watching the Cubs sleepwalk vs. St.L. last night, I feel they got their BAD game out of them. Looking for Prior to come out smokin vs.Chisox.
Believe Prior has alternated good games then not so good games. He should be ON today.
Still find it hard to believe how mundane the Cubs looked yesterday vs. St.L.
I'm also going to follow some of you who like the Rangers.
Most bettors overreact following the BIG news of a major trade. With Beltran going to Houston, I look for average Joe type bettors to be all over Houston today. Same can be said of going against K.C. today because they lost Beltran. Keep an eye out for the K.C. final today, they may win. ;)

Good luck to us all, Dave

i think the game will be won decisively by one team or the other--i am not buying that prior is all the way back, and we all know that garland can look great one game and horrible the next--not much value in either side imo, but i am taking a shot with the southsiders -1.5 +244;)

Meriwether HP ump at Chicago

Meriwether HP ump at Chicago

sez here he's 10-5 for the home team. 2-2 for the home dog. But early in season, probably doesn't mean much...(my records shows 7-5 for NL home teams)................http://www.covers.com/data/mlb/umpires/profiles/umpire14055.html

over has hit 9-5 for Meriwether, 1.78 SO/Walk ratio and whopping 3.1 HR/game.

ump assignment from mlb.com's "gameday" link in scoreboard.
