POSTCARD ? CHICAGO ? COUNTY BUILDING AND CITY HALL ? WASHINGTON VIEW AT CLARK ? 1915

QUESTION..BIG TIME QUESTION..

It's 1915 in July ....is their A/C of any kind in these huge brick buildings..window fans..??swamp coolers???

thru these years and into the 50's people dressed fine everyday..

Including vest and suit coat...how in the hell did they stay anywhere close to comfortable in those buildings?????????????????????????????????

did the speakeasy's of the roaring 20's in Chicago have A/C..

THINGS THAT MAKE YA THINK:mj03:

I highly doubt they did. Most all the old buildings I've ever been in our lived in, including houses as a kid, we never had a/c. Radiated heat and window fans. Ultimately window units for air conditioning as I got older but none of the apartment buildings had central air or heat. Living in older buildings was kind of a habit for me. I liked the really old buildings. They'd have cool stuff lie dumb waiters and such
