It seems to me that there is way too much value here to pass up on this qualifying matchup.

Jimmie Johnson qualified the chassis he is using this weekend in the 6th starting spot at Michigan last month and his last 5 qualifying positions at Chicago are 8, 5, 1, 3, and 6.

Kyle Busch has run the chassis he is using this week earlier this year at California and he qualified 22nd. His last 3 qualifying positions at Chicago are 6, 23 and 24.

Kyle Busch is favored -220 to qualify better than JJ (+185) and with these numbers I think the value in the #48 is too good to pass up. I'm taking this now as opposed to after the 1st practice tomorrow because I feel that if Johnson unloads his car well than the value in this play may be lost.

Qualifying Matchup:

#48 over #18 (+185)

Chevy has won 6 of the 7 races run at Chicagoland speedway.

I know Gordon is struggling a bit at the 1.5 mile tracks but I think he's got a good shot to get it right this week. Good enough anyway at 14-1 odds. He has posted 4 top five finishes in 7 starts at Chicago and 5 top tens, including a win.

And JJ hasn't finished worse than 6th at this track except for last year when he cut a tire and finished 37th. Take that away and his average finishing position at Chicago is 3.6

Going to take an early, pre-practice/qualifying shot on these two guys to pull off the win. I may be wrong, but I feel like their odds can only get worse.

To Win:

#48 (8-1)
#24 (14-1)

Matchups:

#16 over #9 (-125) Biffle faster in all 3 practices and has a much better history at this track.

#18 over #17 (+115) This one makes me a little nervous but getting Kyle as an underdog these days is valuable. Plus having the 1st pit stall and the pole will help his cause.
