NL BATTING AVERAGE AVG

1. Albert Pujols, StL .357
2. Chipper Jones, Atl .356
3. Matt Holliday, Col .341
4. Lance Berkman, Hou .333
5. Carlos Lee, Hou

:00hour :00hour

Albert takes the lead. Its going to be close for Larry to get the at bats. There are 29 games left

If Larry gets 4 bats a game thats only 119 at bats left for him . Any absence from the lineup and he is in jeaprody of not getting the 500 at bats.

If I know Chipper Larry like I know Chipper Larry here is what he will do. He will begin dropping about .10 percentage points behind and then have a groin pull so he will not have a chance to get the at bats. Thats classic Larry. Saving face

It's not looking very good for Chipper. Unless he gets injured in the next week or so he will easily get enough plate appearances to qualify. Hopefully Pujols gets really cold but I doubt that happens.

Chipper Jones injured in batting practice
Braves third baseman scratched from lineup against Marlins
By CARROLL ROGERS

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Chipper Jones was scratched from the lineup shortly before game time Tuesday night against the Marlins after injuring his right knee while hitting during batting practice.

The severity of the injury was not immediately known. Jones was being examined before the game.

Jones sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee two years ago while trying to field a ball on the wet grass in San Francisco. He was on the disabled list from April 10-25, 2006.

In 1994, Jones missed what would have been his rookie season after he had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Jones is second in the National League batting race with a .353 batting average, trailing Albert Pujols (.363).:00hour

Omar Infante replaced Jones at third base, and Kelly Johnson was added to the lineup at second.

Jones has been on the disabled list once this year ? coming off on Aug. 8 after missing 14 games with a hamstring injury ? and he?s missed time with a sore quadriceps, back spasms and groin spasms.

Entering Tuesday night, the Braves are 7-21 in games Jones has missed.

Notice that the nancy boy is riding bench with his jacket on just like always. You couldn't even get Juan Pierre for that loser these days. He needs to retire and call it a shitty career as he will never make the hall................and that is the quintessential truth Ruth.

I've never been a big fan of Chipper but that is a pretty stupid statement to say he will never make the hall. He has a .310 career average with over 400 homers and about 1400 rbi. He had 8 straight 100 rbi seasons and won the mvp in 1999. I agree with you that Pujols is the better player, in my opinion Pujols is the best player in baseball. But none of that matters really as I just want to win the bet for this season.

2. Albert Pujols, StL .354

10 games left for Chipper to hold on. I hope he only plays about 5 of the games.

Call it stupid all you want but it is still the truth, he won't make it. Ron Santo had 362 HR's and 1331 rbis and actually played in all the games and he isn't in the hall what makes you think a cocky lazy frail woutfielder/infielder with a lazy arm will make it? Chipper hasn't made a friend one in baseball and is widely despised throughout baseball insiders so you can tell me I am stupid all you want but when he doesn't get in.................will you apologize? Face it dude he is an absolutely selfish player just like Will Clark and Mark Grace and neither one of them should make it either. Chippy could care less if his team makes the playoffs he is concerned about himself and himself only. If not he would suck it up and play the rest of the games, take every bat against all the tough pitchers he always seems to be injured against then you can say he is the batting champ. Until he takes the plate against Sabathia, or Zambrano, or Webb which he has somehow managed to avoid through injury(yeah right) then he has accomplished something. The fact that he sits on the bench and cherry picks his pitchers is pathetic and he is a wart on baseball and sends a bad lesson to all kids out there that now think it is ok to take a day off when the pitcher is a bit tough just so he can get a personal accolade. He has left his team in the tank and I guarantee that there isn't a single player on that team that wants him back next year nor another that would want that tumor on their bench either. Face facts, you may win your bet but since everyone is so into asterisks these days they should put one big one on his lazy whining ass

Hope this helps,

FDC- Hate to tell you, but Chipper and his cridentials will get him into the HOF. People do like him, not sure where you got that info. Chipper isn't the same young Chipper Jones he used to be.

You're a complete idiot if you think he Cherry picks his opposition is a joke. Bobby Cox has chosen whom he will play and sit against, and it's typically in blowouts(win or lose) and rear end of series. The fact you say he picks and choses against CC/Big Z/Webb is a joke. How many games do they even play each year? What are the odds of them facing those designated pitchers in those paticular series? Everyone on the team wants him back and he will be back, and you're a complete dumbass for inclining otherwise.

Face facts, you're the whining bitch.

Major-league batting leader Chipper Jones went 0-for-3 before leaving with an inflamed right shoulder after six innings. He left without talking to reporters and told a Braves official the shoulder has nagged him for some time.

Jones was listed as day-to-day, and didn?t know if he would play Saturday.

Jones? average slipped from .365 to .362, nine points ahead of St. Louis? Albert Pujols, who went 1-for-4 Friday against the Chicago Cubs.
.....................................................

Jones will only play games he feels he can get a hit vs that pitcher.

Batting leader does not fit his persona.

Home strech now.

Hey Skippy,
No need to get all third grade recess on me. You call it what you want but he has similar numbers to players like Santo that played every inning every day and they aren't in. I have seen Chipper sit more than he plays and therefore it is cherry picking as far as I am concerned. If I had the time to look up every time Chip has sat against pitchers he has historically not hit well I would hazard to say it is above the league minumum. My opinion, your childishness.

Also Tito, What would you like to put on that Aramis gets more votes for MVP than you fag boy as we enter the playoffs and you're begging for your bitch to sit so you can back door your way into a jersey. The guy is a part itme player that can hit fastballs and has a good eye. Manny is ten times the player he is, he shoud win the mother fuhker or Pujols as they are out there every play not when its convenient so sell stupid somewhere else. I am all full up here.

Hope this helps,

FDC

LOL....they should win because they're better players. What a retarded argument. This bet wasn't made for the best player, or the best fielder, or ANYTHING other then who wins the batting title. You guys yourselves ridiculed him for saying he's always hurt and saying he'll never get it because of that, blah blah fu(king blah. Now you want to turn it around and cry the same reasons as to why he doesn't deserve it.

Face it, the reasons why you thought he wouldn't win it and you criticized him for are going to turn around and bite you dead square in the ASS.

Don't base your arguments on "If I had the time to look up," and "ASSUMPTIONS." You did that when this thread was started, and I shredded you apart there. Not only that, but it's pretty stupid/retarded, and pretty much shows you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

Why would I bet you on who gets more MVP votes this late into the season and when it's irrelevant??? Why would I be dumb and greedy? I WIN, YOU LOSE.

As far as the Cubs and the playoffs, ENJOY IT. You're not going to win it, and you'll choke like always. Nope, don't want to bet on it....I'VE ALREADY WON.
