Only thing that I know is Crowton, Coach Stud (OL) , McCarthey (WR) are out following the bowl. McCarthey is a poor coach, and his unit has had problems lining up correctly all season. I was surprised he was retained last year, but retaining him did help with continuity in recruiting.

Of course, Porter (RB and recruiting coordinator) is heading to Memphis. Porter's replacement will likely be former OP Walker HC and current staff member at Tennessee, Frank Wilson. Let me also say that I heard this yesterday from my father, who is very reliable, but it was reported today by Dandy Don, who is not reliable and simply recycles information for the most part.

I know nothing except for the common rumors for Crowton's replacement.

Would not surprise me to see Les hire Scott Loeffler as OC.

I would be ok with that hire. I just wish that dickhead Herbstreit had not sabotaged LSU (of course we all know he was doing it to cause LSU distractions leading up their matchup with his buckeyes) by breaking the Miles to Michigan story. As it stands, we are stuck with Miles for at least another season. For the record, 9-3 capital one bowl is fine, and I am not knocking it. What I am knocking is Miles' horrible gameday decisions, personnel decisions, and poor recruiting-- not by star rankings (which are obviously great), but by need.

Actually Herbsteak thought he had good info coming from Des Howard who was on the UM search committee. Des claims someone posed as him and fed him the info (guess it was sent via text or email). I don't believe him, he wanted Les here badly and was basically trying to out Michigan AD Bill Martin who was ignoring the committee's recommendation of Miles. Obviously Herby was more than happy to "break the story" because of the distraction factor.

Sadly, UM never offered and was not planning on offering Miles. Les made a lot of strong willed enemies in his time in A2. Obviously if Rod hadn't fallen in their laps a the last minute then things might have changed, and Les might have gotten his offer.

In hindsight it would have been far better for both programs if Les went to UM. Loeffler and Mallet would have stayed in Ann Arbor and that alone would have eased the transition greatly. LSU probably would have ended up with Rodriguez who is a better fit in the south for many reasons.

Damn! I used to like Des:mad:

Rich Rod may have landed at LSU. I do know this about RichRod, he burned every bridge in New Orleans with his language and overall lack of class. He would have been offered the Tulane gig following Bowden's departure were it not for his lack of polish.

Baton Rouge doesn't care about that. Saban was not liked up there (because he is a dick), but he could have stayed as long as he liked. Meanwhile, Miles is revered by all as a gentleman, but if not for $$$, he would be gone, gone, gone!!

Wow. Billy Gonzales, the stud recruiter from Florida, is apparently breaking away from his long-standing relationship with Urban Meyer and heading to Baton Rouge to coach WR and become the Passing Game Coordinator. This will provide a very nice recruiting presence in Florida.

Larry Porter did LSU a favor by hiring Coach Stud (LSU OL Coach), whose OL has underachieved since his arrival, to become the OC at Memphis. Cannot do any worse than Coach Stud, so an upgrade coming there as well.

Was Stud the OL coach during the championship season? I remember that group playing well above their recruiting "star ratings".

That was his 1st season. It seemed like he provided an instant spark. Ciron Black and Herman Johnson were both returning starters, and both must have been 4* recruits (although I am not sure), but RT Carnell Stewart (switched from DL) and RG Lyle Hytt both played great as new starters that season.

While injuries to both Ciron Black knees have been a problem the past 2 seasons, the remainder of the OL has not gotten the job done. Hytt, who provided a great spark at RG in the title season, has not shown any improvement the past 2 seasons. Joseph Barksdale showed no improvement from LY to this year-- his 2nd as a starter.
