JETS -10 Cincinnati 35
Cincinnati has a shot at the number three seed if NE loses their game earlier. The Jets control their fate with a playoff berth if they win. It?s conceivable NE could lose and Cincinnati would value that number three seed and try to win this game. Marin Lewis has stated he plans on playing to win this game. The Cincinnati offense is better than the Jets at 5.0yppl against 5.3yppl compared to the Jets at 5.0yppl against 5.5yppl. The Cincinnati defense, while above average, is not as good as the Jets at 5.0yppl against 5.2yppl, compared to the Jets at 4.3yppl against 5.4yppl. The Jets qualify in a late season scheduling situation, which is 124-64-1. This line is inflated but not as much as I originally would have thought. My numbers favor the Jets by seven points and predict about 29 points. Lewis has stated he plans to try and win this game. Although the situation favors the Jets I like Cincinnati to keep this game close. The dog in Cincy games is now 14-1 ATS this year. The Jets have just one win at home this year by more than 10 points and that was by 11 points against Carolina. Granted, if Cincinnati pulls their starters, the Jets posses the type of defense that could roll but their own offense isn?t that great. The Bengal?s have lost just one game by more than 11 points this year and that was at Minnesota.

Situational - If the Jets win and they are in after
taking down Indianapolis last week. Cincinnati
clinched the AFC North after its win over Kansas
City. Fundamental - By all accounts, the Bengals
won?t be taking this game seriously. New
York was certainly handed the game at Indy
after the Colts shut things down in the third
quarter. Game Notes - Cincinnati linebacker
Rey Maualuga suffered a fractured ankle in last
week?s win over the Chiefs. There is no timetable
for his return. Final Take - This is one instance
where we will jump in against the marketplace.
Cincinnati may indeed call it quits early but
that doesn?t mean the Jets can just hang points
on the scoreboard whenever they so choose. Be
patience with this one as the line expects to climb.

*NY JETS over CINCINNATI by 4

Wonderful pressure on Gang Green here! Win, and they?re in! If only they were facing a team
that was already eliminated but had some quality, like Atlanta or somebody like that. Instead,
the Jetsies get a Bengals team in what looks like a very similar situation to the Christmas gift
that Indianapolis handed to them last Sunday. The Bengals? main men have been outscored 51-
to-67 in their last three games. Now that they have clinched the division, Cincinnati has license
to tank pre-playoffs if they so desire. Cincinnati has lost three in a row on the road. The biggest
concern has to be Carson Palmer?s awful play, and having Darrelle Revis draped all over Chad
Ochocinco won?t help anything with New York?s number one ranked run defense shutting down
lanes against Cedric Benson and Larry Johnson. The funniest thing in the world would be if
Bengals? wideout Laveraenus Coles caught a late TD pass to help eliminate his ex-Jets teammates
and jaw-dropped fans from the playoffs. The would be some great, late-night comedy,
live from New York.

NEW YORK, 17-13.

The AFC North Division champion Bengals aren?t stylish or sexy. They?re
dull in fact. But that?s what makes them dangerous for the Jets in this pressure
setting. All the young Jets and their rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez,
need to do to make the post-season is win this game. That is not going to
be as easy as the oddsmaker seems to believe. Cincinnati has lost only two
games this season by more than five points. True, the Bengals are in the
playoffs. They don?t need this game like the Jets do. Underestimate the
Bengals at your own peril, though. They are 9-1 ATS when taking points. The
Bengals could limit the minutes of some of their key starters. But their style
remains the same. It?s a similar style to the Jets: pound the ball, play for field
position and rely on a strong defense. It?s the kind of philosophy that rarely
results in a blowout. The Bengals? strength is a top-five defense. They are
particularly tough versus the run, which is the Jets? strength. The Bengals
ranked No. 2 against the rush entering Week 15. The Jets don?t trust
Sanchez knowing he has a 12-to-20 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Sanchez, who played at Southern Cal, doesn?t have experience in January
conditions at Giants Stadium. Snow, wind and cold could work in the
Bengals? favor even though they are the visitor because they have more veterans
and are experienced in these kinds of conditions. Sanchez isn?t.The
Bengals don?t just have Cedric Benson to run the ball. Larry Johnson, the
former Chiefs bad boy, is at his best in this type of grind-it-out run-oriented
offense. The Bengals aren?t going to roll over for the Jets. Cincinnati coach
Marvin Lewis will make sure of that. He doesn?t want his team entering the
playoffs on a flat note.

CINCINNATI 31-10.

NEW YORK JETS 20 - Cincinnati 17

- (8:20) -- A win, & the Jets are in, thanks
to LW's gift at Indy, when the Colts pretty much emptied the bench. A 202-64
Jet RY edge in that one (200 from Jones & Greene), with little needed from
Sanchez, so he still stands at a horrible 12/20. Defensively, the Jets have held
their last 5 foes to 9.4 ppg. The Bengals have clinched the AFC North. Just
their 2nd playoff berth since '91. Congrats. Check Benson at 1,251 RYs, &
NFL's 3rd best rushing "D". The Jets are 1-7 ATS chalks off scoring 28+ pts,
& remember, the dog has covered an amazing 13-OF-14 in Cincy contests TY.

Should Cincy win, they get to face Houston again, who they lost to in Cincy earlier. Not any incentive to win for Bungles, I would assume they follow suit with other teams and play not to get hurt.

NY JETS 17 - Cincinnati 13

?After last week?s ?gift? from Jim Caldwell, the
Jets control their own fate in the multi-barreled AFC playoff chase. But we have
seen so many times in the NFL that just because a team must win, doesn?t
mean it will win (or cover). Perhaps New York gets another break this week if
Cincy gives some pine time to Carson Palmer. Bengals 6-2 as a dog TY. Jets
4-1-1 ?under? their last 6 games, and there are two deep and conscientious
defenses in this game.
