Also Poughkeepsie because famos in Gene Hackmans classic movie " The french connection". One of the opening scenes is NYPD undercover cop Doyle[hackman] beating up a drug dealer asking him.." and I'm gonna beat your ass for picking your toes in Poughkeepsie".
Well here we are today..Marist has knocked off Big-10 power Ohio St and Mid Tenn a good b-ball team.Brian giorgis has been all over the news about this 16 seed team getting this far.I said way back on my 1st post that he is one of the best coaches in the country.He always stressed coaching his gds.he coached the Hudson valley Knights and top AAU girls team. he coached at Lourdes in Pouh and won..many state HS titles.
His team wins because he believes in Team chemistry,elimanate turnovers[ No 1 in the nation]assits and plays man/man defense..So much has been written on his team.His 3 gds Viani,Flores and Kresge all were point gds in HS.I remember him at a clinic that we both were the guest speakers and he said something like.." I'll recruit pt gds because I can make them 2 gds or small fds.I can make a pt gd a center,fd,shooting gd,etc. but I can't do that the other way. so today we will see these little knats dribbling around you'll understand.
All those gds are 5'4,5'6 and 5'7. Fitz his top fd is 6'0 and Dahman the post/fd is 6'3.they are unselfish,play great defense.Any HS coach today should dvd or use your vcr and watch his man/man defense,motion offense..its a clinic..crisp passing..boxing out..FT..they never miss..in fact Giorgis gets upset if the ball hits the rim and bounces in..he wants swishes...
But today the Vols are Golaith...Foxes took advantage of the weak MT and OSU gds.
Parker is 6'4 and there is no way dahamn and the help team can stop parker.Foxes doubled down OSU but Tenn has Spencer who is 6'3 and Anoskie inside. outside there is Hornblower who can shoot the lites out..and 5'
3 Bobbit..Matchup problems..at every position..Parker is one of the top 2 or 3 players in the country..Bobbit is a knat like the foxes gds.
What I see here is Tenn will press all day..they are athletic,faster,more talented,jump higher,and play better defense..foxes strength are there 3 pt gds..but if they have to labor all game breaking the press they will become wary..tenn can gamble on there press..foxes cannot..they press with there little they will pay a price..
Tenn should own the bds and they can shoot the 3...doubling on parker low and you pay the price..
so...I think it's midnite .....even though the game goes off at noon.
Marist +18.over Tenn * how can I not make that a play...I want to cheer my butt off today..Heard a great line on TV..'it's David and Goliath today...but David needs to bring 2 rocks"..just maybe my foxes can scare the mighty Vols..it's my play but you should be able to figure out your play
OU -6.5 over Miss *
tough game...Miss's Price,there great pressure defense,speed,etc. They forced 29 turnovers to the Terps.OU has one of the best players in the country Paris and her twin sister replace her.Not a great 3 pt shooting team but think they have the gds to deliver the ball to Paris. Line is so tight..lean went to the poor FT% of Miss at 62%..and A stud in Paris who can dominate a game.
NC -9.5 over G. Wash **** best play
This is a team lyr that killed me in the tourney. GW is cinderella but I think NC's offense is to much and NC's to athletic and has to much speed. Latta,Larkin and Little are tough.GW runs that 2-3 press and in the A-10 they can dominate with it..but this team many thought lyr could of won it..they play uptempo,run,run and run...Gw stays around for awhile but Heels will put this game in 5th gear with 10 minutes left in the game.
Purdue +1 over georgia ***
Wrong team favored accoring to my numbers..I'm missing something.Both teams can shoot.Geo has Humphries and Chambers who can score..they shot 61% in 1st half over Iowa St..They struggled vs belmont in the opening round and if they do that today Purdue wins this by 20..Purdue has Gearlds who is all "everything".One of the best shooters in the country.In last 10 games is on fire avg 24 pts a game.dawgs will have a tough time controlling her and Hylton. These guys shot 79% at the half vs GT in the opening round. can you these two coaches at halftime..with these FG%...the 1st question I would ask is..who missed a shot out there...lol
MSU upset Purdue a few weeks ago..a needed wake up call.Purdue plays relentless defense..dawgs in trouble..
