heres my review:
just got back from show
pretty darn good movie. boxing scenes were pretty brutal boxing scenes. shows you really how far boxing has fallen in the last 70 years or so. people used to listen to all the fights on radio and was a big deal. the story is based on a real fighter, and you know what's gonna happen when you sit down, but its still good to watch. i enjoyed it at least. i hate all the blow em up movies the summer usually offers cause they're all the same. at least this has a story.
paul giamatti was great. i know theres 6 months left of movies, but barring something strange, he should be the frontrunner for best supporting actor. especially after the snub for "sideways" last year. so for those of you that bet oscar stuff keep in mind, he should be at least a strong contender.
for those of you that don't know, giamatti is also the son of the late baseball comissioner. you know, the one who banished pete rose from the game.
