Actually, I've only been through one hurricane. I was in Guatemala when Mitch hit. It was a bit rough... whole country shut down for 3 days.

As for bandwidth, we've got a good deal.
We own the 4 satellites outside our building in Curacao. We provide bandwidth & phones to many sportsbooks in Curacao. So, we actually get our bandwidth for free & have a good little side business going.

We also own the generator in our building in Curacao & provide several books w/ backup.

One thing you know for sure, come Sunday when some of your outs are down due to an electric outage, we'll be ready w/ the several gallons of gasoline to keep the generator--& our books--up & running.

Cheers,

Mike

Senor capper,

Almost went thru a tornado. What a surprise LOL. It seems like every week there is a tornado in Kansas. Hey if you ever get back that way give me a shout. I will be moving back that way around April.

anything to do with the camino real?

i spent 3 months there in the beginning of 2000 and then about a month later that year, in may or june, i think. spent almost every night at the little, but only gambling attracion there, well, official, anyway. heard about others.

i.e.

not much into parallels, are you talking like, canada? i have no idea.

Pep,

I wasn't involved w/ the Camino Real, but definitely am familiar w/ it. I lived just a few blocks from there.

It's tough to make money in those coin guzzlers. I need the tables!!

There was a little underground place owned by some Chinese folks. It was a dance club w/ a back room w/ some table games. I can't remember the name of the place. It was pretty seedy, but had some good times there.

It's not quite as easy to find excitement in Guatemala City as it has been in some of the other places I've lived.

Mike ...

is there any job openings for the computer/internet savvy down there? or business opportunities?

i own three businesses that are doing very well, but i'm growing tired of the -35C January's.

either would be fine with me.

my only involvement with the govt is they issue me PO's and rape me for taxes. self employed? no such thing in Canada.

i have owned a computer store for 12 years and i'm growing tired of "retail jail". i have good staff in place (i think) and it seems it can run on auto pilot. my web hosting business is doing very well. all handled through email and the web. i love that! and my latest venture, home automation, is going far better than i had expected.

but every year winter comes.
an i'm getting tired of the snow routine and heavy clothes.

so, you never know unless you ask.
and there are no rewards without risks.

i'm always open for something new.
