There is no doubt that luck is involved, but is it also not involved when pros win a hand? Whether or not you make the "right" decision, there is still luck involved.
I watched a bit of the shoing last night. hellmuth made a great laydown at one point (As up against a not so apparent full house) which shows how great he is. But I also saw him outdraw another player on two different occassions. Plainly put, he got lucky in both of those spots. But he's Hellmuth so it's just great play.
Raymer won his showdowns last year which is what gets you through these marathons, but he was in those positions because he is a skilled player as well.
Moneymaker is pretty terrible (and that's being nice), but he had to do a couple of things right to get through that many people.
And if it so unfair to the pros, then don't show up. I can't stand good poker players that bitch about bad calls on their opponents part just becasue they lost. You sure as hell aren't pissed when they do it and lose. It basically comes down to being a good sport about it.
Tell me the last time you saw Ivey or Lederer barade a player, win or lose, for playing against the book.
