MIAMI / CLEVELAND UNDER 40.5
This total is inexplicable. I've been trying to figure out why this number is not 35 or 36. Cleveland is the NFL's worst offensive team, by a mile. Two weeks ago, the Browns put up the fifth worst offensive performance in league history (just 17 yards gained versus BUFF). They followed that disgraceful effort up with being shutout at home last week versus a sloppy San Diego team. Now, they go back on the road against what may be a better defense. For all it's disappointments as a team, Miami's defense remains solid. What is there to suggest the Browns will put up points this week? I say, nothing. This team is completely lost offensively, and based on the numbers and recent trends, will struggle to break into double digits. Browns' lone bright spot has been the running of RB Suggs, who put up 105 yards last week. Assuming Browns use him heavily this week, that can only help the UNDER. Defensievely, LB Zack Thomas returns to defense aftr missing four games. Meanwhile, the Dolphin offense is hardly anything to fear. "Inconsistent" would be the best word to describe this unit, which is weak along the offensive line and suspect at both QB and RB. Miami is coming off a huge emotional upset win last week versus New England, and most of those points were scored in a last minute frenzy against a prevent defense. Even the MIA kicker (mare) is limping Let's be generous and give Cleveland 14 points -- that means Miami needs 26+. I think this is way too much to ask from either side. Solid UNDER play here.

nolan:

total does look awfully high.

must be noted, however, that mccown has played in 3 games.

vs. new england
at buffalo
vs. san diego

all three have great defenses.
and two of the three games were played in downright awful conditions (snowy and windy in buffalo 2 weeks ago and then last week vs. san diego)

all the talk out of cleveland has been about the browns not embarrassing themselves and the organization on national tv.

i think the offense is gonna score some points this week, especially now that suggs is starting and mccown can face a good but not great defense for once.

problem is, browns defense is a joke and will probably give up 24-27 pts from the dolphins.

im an exclusively under player and i can see a 27-20 game.

Nolan, funny you should pop in, you popped into my head earlier today and I wondered what you've been doing. I hope all is well.

Miami has 1 OVER and 6 UNDERS at home when the total hits 40 - 44.5 pts. The 1 OVER was this yr., last Monday Night.

Clev. has 8 OV. and 1 UN. away vs. non division conf. opp.

Anyway, Merry x-mas to you and all our MJers.
Let's get em Sunday.
Hooks :)

Just for discussion purposes and no disrespaect intended,Cleve is zero for six ATS as a road dog in '04 season. Why fool around with the total in this game?I show the Dolphins with a big scoring night(around 40) in this one and the Browns with 14.Not playing the total, just the mia-7.Hope you cash the under.GL either way

Is Miami a sudden force now? I know they just beat the World Champion, but looks like the world think they'll cover without any problems?
