We all know the rivalry between the Lakers and the Clips, and how the Clips have been living under the shadow of the Lake Show since they moved from SD. I've found an interesting trend this year on the "new and improved" Clips.........

Out of the 14 of 15 straight up Laker losses (excluding the loss to the Clips), the Clips have played the same opponent 7 times after the Laker loss, and posted a sparkling 5-2 ATS mark, 3-0 at home. Perhaps it is because it's another way for the Clips to show the LA fans that they've arrived and want to share some of the spotlights with the Lake Show. Maybe it's something else, but I'm gonna take a shot at the Clips.

More common than you think...

More common than you think...

As you may be aware, the Clippers and the Lakers play in the same building. NBA scheduling takes advantage of this when it can by having a road team play one team one night and the other team the next.

At most, the visiting team is in town for three days when playing the Clipps one night and The Lakers the next. I've seen visitors here as long as four days on the occasions when the building goes from Lakers to Kings Hockey to Clippers. There are times when this is a big help for a visiting team because they get credit for having played a road game without having to go through the hassle of making a late night flight for the next town or even changing hotel rooms.

Generally speaking, when home, the Lakers like to play Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Kings play on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays and the Clipps play Saturdays, Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday/Thursday depending on which of the other two teams is out of town.

That said, it is of value to a handicapper to be aware when a road team is playing back to back with the Clippers and Lakers on consecutive nights. Even though there is no travel consideration, I have found that the visiting team tires in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the second game especially when they play the Lakers on the first night. Road teams will go like hell to beat the Lakers and in doing so more often than not shoot their wad trying to beat them leaving little remaining in the tank for the Clipps.

It goes the other way too. An at home rested Clipper team can be troublesome for almost anybody in the league. If that opponent is not at their best when they come in to play the Clippers, the Clipps will run them ragged making the Lakers job easier the following evening.

Jesus, all that to say, I like your Clippers pick tonight and I'm with you.

Again, it is a very general schedule

I think The Clippers got almost all of us tonight. I was already licking my chops for this one last night after the Blazers knocked off the Lakers while looking at the overnight lines. Haven't watched the game but last I checked it was 64-54 with only 9 minutes left in the 4th. Did they shrink the baskets?
