Nathan is doing it right now. So perplexed at why a closer would risk walking a guy with a 2 run lead. This dumb fuck just walked two guys. So frustrating. I'd rather lose on 3 straight solo home runs

Closers is some bs that agents helped come up with. For the Riveras of the world who I have so much respect for. There are 20 guys who fade away because of the "closer" role. I wish managers would have more feel for who is shutting down a team during the game. I had Texas tonight. Scheppers is shoving and you bring in Nathan who is always shaky late in his career. Got screwed with Arizona Sunday because Gibson took his starter out for Bell! I understand everyone has roles but if a guy is dealing let him stay! Had Baltimore tonight and watched them blow it! Its so frustrating!
Tough loss, but Johnson had converted a team record 35 straight save opportunities. Bound to have a bad one eventually but he is probably one of the three best closers in the game right now.

And it is without a doubt the hardest job coming out of bullpen. Asked to basically never give up a run, and god forbid 2 runs or else everyone makes it out like you can't pitch.
Even with tonite, nathan has a 2.4 era and 12 saves.
Johnson even better stats...
It sucks when ya lose, but if you had baltimore in all of johnsons last 36 appearances, you would be 35-1 right now.
Same scenario just this year with nathan, you'd be 12-2
Worst feeling when you lose with a closer in the game, because it means you were so close, but by no means does it make the pitcher a bum IMO.

Agreed that these guys are bound to screw up but I would rather lose on a bunch of hits than lose on walks. With a lead of more than a run, you should make other team earn base runners. That is the frustrating part
