STREAKING AND SLUMPING STARTERS
STREAKING
Dakota Hudson, St. Louis Cardinals (13-6, 3.47 ERA, $994): The Cardinals have been rolling lately, going 16-5 in their last 21 home games and 6-1 over their previous seven games overall. Hudson has been a big reason for their success, going three straight starts without giving up a single run. During that three-game span he's allowed just seven hits over 18 2-3 innings. The Cards are an incredible 15-3 in Hudson's last 18 starts.
Today, Hudson and the Cardinals are hosting the Cincinnati Reds and starter Trevor Bauer. Bauer has been awful since being acquired by Cincy, with an ERA of 7.62 and a WHIP of 1.58 while the Reds have gone 1-4 in his five starts. The Cardinals are small home faves at -116 and are definitely worth the price given how each starting pitcher is trending.
SLUMPING
Jose Suarez, Los Angeles Angels (2-5, 6.67 ERA, $-658): The 21-year-old lefthander is struggling in his first year as a pro. Over his last five starts he has an ERA of 9.00 and a WHIP of 2.05. Suarez will have a tough matchup tonight as the Angels host the Boston Red Sox who lead the majors in batting average (.277) and are third in runs per game (5.78).
The BoSox will give the ball to Nathan Eovaldi and the Over has gone 7-1-2 over his last 10 starts. With the Over also hitting in eight of the Angels last 10 home games and going 9-2-1 in Suarez's previous 12 starts the Over 10.5 looks like a good play.

CUBS COOKING AT HOME
The Brewers are still in the NL Central race and enter a crucial three-game series on the road against the Cubs. With 10 of their next 16 games against the Cubs and Cardinals, who are both ahead of them in the division race, the Brew Crew will need to start winning soon.
Milwaukee is a +125 underdog for this afternoon's matchup and most trends are pointing towards a Cubs victory. Milwuakee is 2-8 in it's last 10 road games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 in Chase Anderson's previous five starts on the road. The Cubs are 8-3 in their last 11 games and 8-2 in Jose Quintana's previous 10 starts.
Chicago is also 40-19 in their previous 59 games at home and 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two sides at Wrigley Field. The Cubs offer good value on the moneyline at -145.
SUPER NOVA
Ivan Nova is coming off a 4-0 loss to the Texas Rangers but he only allowed one earned run through 5 2-3 innings in that game. Over his last seven starts the White Sox have gone 6-1 and Nova has an incredible ERA of 0.94.
Nova and the White Sox are in an interleague matchup today as they travel to Atlanta to face the Braves and southpaw Max Fried. Fried is 14-4 with a 4.03 ERA and has a sparking 3.29 ERA over his five starts in August.
The Under has gone 9-2 in the Braves last 11 games and has cashed in four of Chicago's last five contests. With the O/U installed at 9.5 tonight, the Under is worth a look.
GRUDGE MATCH
We've got a grudge match in Detroit as Twins starter Kyle Gibson faces off against Tigers right-hander Edwin Jackson for the second time within seven days. Gibson and the Twins won 8-5 in Minnesota last Saturday and Jackson was shelled for six runs in five innings.
Jackson has been pretty awful all season going 3-7 with an 8.70 ERA and a WHIP of 1.87. Gibson is 12-6 with a 4.49 ERA but he's been pretty bad over his last four starts going 1-2 with a 7.17 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP. The Twins are massive -268 faves but given that the Twins average a league-best 5.88 runs per game (and an even higher 6.25 runs/game on the road) the Over 10 might be the better play.
