TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona won its sixth consecutive game but may have lost a preseason All-American to injury.

Junior guard Allonzo Trier went down -- and pounded the court in pain -- after colliding with North Dakota State's Paul Miller with 9:53 left in Arizona's 83-53 win on Monday night in McKale Center. Trier left the court with assistance.

Arizona coach Sean Miller said he had no specific report on the injury, adding, "We think he suffered some sort of a bone bruise."

Trier scored 15 points before he left the game. Freshman Deandre Ayton scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Arizona (9-3). Paul Miller led North Dakota State (5-6) with 12 points.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Miles Bridges tied his career high with 33 points, and the Spartans stretched their winning streak to 10 games with a rout of the Huskies.

Michigan State's Nick Ward added 20 points while making all nine of his field-goal attempts and grabbing six rebounds. Jaren Jackson collected a team-high eight rebounds and made six of a school-record 16 blocks by the Spartans (11-1).

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Sophomore forward Killian Tillie scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Bulldogs to a wire-to-wire victory over the Jaguars.

Tillie converted all 10 of his free-throw attempts, and the Bulldogs (10-2) finished 25 of 29 from the line as a team. Gonzaga's Johnathan Williams had 17 points and 14 rebounds to collect his third double-double of the season. Josh Perkins added 13 points and six assists.

Junior guard T.J. Henderson scored 18 points to pace IUPUI (2-8), which lost its sixth consecutive game.

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Svi Mykhailuk scored 26 points as the Jayhawks routed the Mavericks.

Two days after hitting the game-winning 3-pointer in a one-point victory at Nebraska, Mykhailuk made 10 of 13 shots and hit 6 of 7 3-pointers as Kansas (9-2) placed five in double figures. Devonte' Graham added 17 and eight assists while Langerald Vick finished with 15.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Vladimir Brodziansky scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Horned Frogs remained unbeaten with a victory over the winless Tigers.

JD Miller finished with 20 points, and Kenrich Williams added 17 points for the Horned Frogs (11-0). TCU is one of four remaining unbeaten teams in Division I, and its 16-game winning streak is the longest current run in Division I.

Kevin Hervey was quiet most of the game, but the reigning Sun Belt Player of the year finished with 24 points for Texas-Arlington (8-4).

No. 7 Kentucky at UCLA highlights this week in AP Top 25
December 19, 2017

Kentucky and UCLA are among the bluest of college basketball's blue bloods, combining for 19 national titles.

The Bruins are the all-time leader, thanks in large part to a stretch of nine titles in 10 years under coach John Wooden. UCLA won its last title in 1995.

Kentucky has eight titles, four of those under Adolph Rupp and most recently under John Calipari in 2012.

The two powerhouse programs have the marquee game this week in the AP Top 25 when they meet Saturday in New Orleans.

Both the seventh-ranked Wildcats and Bruins are still trying to find an identity a month into the season.

Kentucky (9-1) again is loaded with future pros, and Calipari is still trying to find the right mix with the youngest team he's had in Lexington.

It hasn't stopped the Wildcats from winning games.

Kentucky's only loss was by four to Kansas in Chicago early in the season, and a string of blowouts dot their schedule.

The Wildcats beat Virginia Tech 93-86 on Saturday.

''A bunch of good kids and they're trying to please me and the staff,'' Calipari said. ''What else can I ask for? And they're smart. They're pretty good.''

UCLA has struggled since losing Lonzo Ball, T.J. Leaf and Bryce Alford from last year's team.

The Bruins got the season off to an ugly start in China, where LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were accused of shoplifting and suspended. Ball left the school to play professionally overseas, while Riley and Hill missed their 10th straight game in a loss to No. 25 Cincinnati on Saturday.

''It's about understanding who we are,'' coach Steve Alford said. ''You went from one day having 11 in your rotation to having eight. That doesn't happen a lot in college basketball. I just can't thank them enough.''

LIGHT WEEK

This week in the Top 25 is a rare one with no ranked teams playing each other, with many of the opponents smaller schools like Savannah State, SC Upstate, Cleveland State and Tennessee State.

HEELS AND BUCKEYES

The opening game in New Orleans between No. 5 North Carolina and Ohio State could be one of the best of the week.

North Carolina has bounced back from an ugly loss to then-No. 4 Michigan State at the PK80 Invitational with five straight wins. The Tar Heels held off No. 20 Tennessee on Sunday and host Wofford on Wednesday.

Ohio State (9-3) had a stretch of three losses in four games, to Gonzaga, Butler and Clemson. The Buckeyes have played well since, winning at Wisconsin and rallying from a 20-point deficit to beat rival Michigan during a four-game win streak.

Ohio State rolled over Appalachian State on Saturday and hosts The Citadel on Tuesday.

KANSAS IN NORCAL

No. 14 Kansas faces an interesting matchup in its final game before trying to win a 13th straight Big 12 title, playing Stanford on Thursday in Sacramento, California.

The Cardinal are 6-6 and have some ugly losses, but also have Reid Travis, one of the best players out West.

A 6-foot-8 junior, he leads Stanford with 22.2 points per game while shooting 53 percent and grabs 7.3 rebounds.

The Jayhawks will have to find a way to contain him to not end the nonconference season with a loss.

ARIZONA HOSTS UCON

A game between Arizona and UConn would seem like one of the best of the week.

One problem heading into Thursday's matchup: The Huskies have been inconsistent.

UConn is 7-3 but has struggled against bigger schools. The Huskies were blown out by No. 2 Michigan State and Arkansas, with losses to Syracuse and Providence also on their resume. They did beat Oregon, but the Ducks have been up and down so far after reaching the Final Four last season.

Arizona (9-3), on the other hand, is on a roll. The Wildcats have bounced back from a dismal trip to the Bahamas and won six straight, including an 83-53 rout of North Dakota State on Monday. They also have Deandre Ayton, an athletic 7-foot-1 freshman who is a nightmare matchup.

A win at McKale Center could do wonders for the Huskies.

Top 25 roundup: Oklahoma's Young records 22 assists

NORMAN, Okla. -- Freshman sensation Trae Young tied an NCAA record with 22 assists as No. 17 Oklahoma routed Northwestern State 105-68 on Tuesday night.

Young, who also scored 26 points, leads the nation at 28.5 points and 10.2 assists per game. The previous Big 12 and school record for assists in a game was 17. Young hit 9 of 17 from the floor, hitting 3 of 6 from behind the 3-point line.

The Sooners (9-1) shot 59.4 percent from the floor and made 11 3-pointers en route to their seventh straight victory. Freshman Brady Manek added 22 points, Kameron McGusty 15 and Christian James 13 for Oklahoma. Ishmael Lane led Northwestern State (3-7) with 17 points.

No. 3 Arizona State 95, Longwood 61

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tra Holder scored 20 points and Kodi Justice added 18 as Arizona State used a big second half to blow out Longwood.

De'Quon Lake had 16 points and nine rebounds, and freshman Remy Martin contributed 13 points, nine assists and seven rebounds as the Sun Devils (11-0) extended the best start in school history while equaling the second-longest winning streak.

Freshman Kamil Chapman scored 16 for the Lancers (3-8), who have lost 25 consecutive games to Division I opponents.

No. 8 Texas A&M 64, Northern Kentucky 58

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Duane Wilson scored 16 points, and Tyler Davis added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Texas A&M past Northern Kentucky.

Savion Flagg added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Aggies (10-1), who led 61-58 after the Norse's Jordan Garnett made a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left. Texas A&M, which was 2 of 20 from 3-point range, played for the first time this season without Admon Gilder, who is sidelined due to a knee injury.

Drew McDonald led Northern Kentucky (7-5) with 16 points, Garnett added 15 and Lavone Holland scored 12.

No. 9 Xavier 81, Marshall 77

CINCINNATI -- Kerem Kanter scored 16 points and had a career-high 13 rebounds, and Tyrique Jones added 14 points and 11 boards as Xavier overcame some key injuries to defeat Marshall.

Kanter recorded his second double-double of the season. Sean O'Mara and Quentin Goodin each scored 14 points, helping the Musketeers (11-1) win their sixth straight game. Ajdin Penava led the Thundering Herd (8-4) with 25 points and nine rebounds.

Xavier played without Kaiser Gates and J.P. Macura, who sustained head injuries Saturday against East Tennessee State. Jones also was hobbled by a knee injury and freshman Naji Marshall did not play in the second half (back) after scoring seven points.

WICHITA, Kan. -- Samajae Haynes-Jones scored 27 points off the bench, including a late 3-pointer that helped Wichita State put away Arkansas State.

Landry Shamet finished with 18 points for the Shockers (9-2), who bounced back from a loss to Oklahoma over the weekend to win their 24th consecutive game at Charles Koch Arena.

The Red Wolves (4-8) were within 84-80 on a jumper from Deven Simms, who had a game-high 30 points. Haynes-Jones hit a 3-pointer on the Shockers' next possession, and Shamet followed with a jumper in the final minutes to seal the victory.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Ty Jerome scored a career-high 17 points to lead Virginia to a drubbing of Savannah State.

Mamadi Diakite and Jack Salt scored 10 points apiece for the Cavaliers (10-1), who shot 50 percent and used a 19-0 run to seize control.

The Tigers (3-11) shot 28 percent but got 22 points from John Grant as all seven of his makes came from beyond the arc. The Tigers sank 11 of their 37 attempts from 3-point range.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- Cane Broome came off the bench to tie his season high with 17 points as Cincinnati routed Arkansas-Pine Bluff for its 32nd straight home victory.

Jacob Evans III was the only other Bearcat to reach double figures, finishing with 12 points. Eleven players scored for Cincinnati (10-2), which has won three straight games after dropping two in a row.

Travon Harper scored 16 points to lead the Golden Lions (0-13).

No. 21 Texas Tech 90, Florida Atlantic 54

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Keenan Evans scored 15 points to lead six players in double figures as Texas Tech routed Florida Atlantic.

The Red Raiders (10-1) opened the second half with a 20-7 run to build a 20-point lead and never allowed the Owls to climb back in the game. Davide Moretti finished with 14 points, Tommy Hamilton pitched in 13, Niem Stevenson added 12, Jarrett Culver had 11 and Zhaire Smith scored 10 for Texas Tech.

Justin Massey scored 17 points to lead Florida Atlantic (6-5).

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) Fletcher Magee scored 27 points to help Wofford stun No. 5 North Carolina 79-75 on Wednesday night, snapping the reigning national champion's 23-game home winning streak.

The Terriers (8-4) led the entire second half and by as many as 14 points before holding off UNC's late-game run for a huge road win and their first win over a ranked team in 23 games.

The Tar Heels (10-2) got within a point twice and missed four 3-pointers for the tie in the final 6 minutes. But they never could overtake the Terriers, who played confidently and kept counter-punching every time UNC made a run.

The Terriers closed it out with four straight free throws in the final 15.2 seconds to seal it, then mobbed each other at midcourt as the horn sounded and the Tar Heels headed to the locker room.

Joel Berry II scored 23 points to lead UNC, which suffered its first loss to an unranked team while ranked in the top five since falling to Boston College in January 2009.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Freshman Wendell Carter Jr. scored a season-best 27 points for Duke.

Marvin Bagley III added 18 points and Grayson Allen finished with 16 to help the Blue Devils (12-1) bounce back from their lone loss with one of their best defensive performances of the season.

Duke blocked nine shots, forced a season-best 21 turnovers and turned them into 39 points against a slow-paced Evansville team.

Dainius Chatkevicius had 12 points to lead the Purple Aces (10-3), who had their five-game winning streak snapped.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Teddy Allen scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds for West Virginia.

The Mountaineers (10-1) struggled in the first 10 minutes of the game, shooting 5 of 23 over the first 13 minutes.

Allen then led West Virginia to a 15-1 run to close the first half to take a 42-18 lead over the Eagles (0-12).

WACO, Texas (AP) - Manu Lecomte scored 22 points and Baylor won its fifth straight.

Baylor went on a 13-0 run in the first half to pull away, then had an 11-2 spurt after Southern cut its lead to 46-40 midway through the second half.

The Bears (10-2) shot 63 percent from the field (31 for 49), including 11 for 22 from 3-point range. Lecomte was 6 for 9 on 3s.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Grant Williams scored a tiebreaking basket with 54 seconds left as Tennessee snapped Furman's five-game winning streak.

Furman (9-4) was seeking its first win over a Southeastern Conference team since a 91-75 home victory over South Carolina on Dec. 21, 2010. The Paladins hadn't beaten an SEC program in a road game since winning 70-62 at Vanderbilt on Nov. 28, 2006.

In a game that featured 13 ties and 14 lead changes, Williams put Tennessee (8-2) ahead for good as he made a move in the paint and scored to break a 61-all tie.

Jordan Bowden led the Volunteers with 21 points. Williams had 14.

Devin Sibley had 22 points for Furman while playing in his hometown of Knoxville.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Khadeen Carrington scored 26 points and Angel Delgado added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Seton Hall.

The win enabled the Pirates (10-2) to get back on track after falling to state rival Rutgers last Saturday.

Besides Carrington and Delgado, the Pirates also received 16 points from Myles Powell, 11 from Desi Rodriguez and 10 from Michael Nzei. Rodriguez grabbed nine rebounds.

Jo Jo Cooper paced Wagner (7-3) with 15 points and Nigel Jackson added 12.

No. 25 CREIGHTON 116, USC UPSTATE 62

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Marcus Foster scored 16 points and Creighton shot nearly 70 percent during a 58-point first half.

Foster made 6 of 7 shots two nights after scoring a season-high 32 points against UT Arlington.

Creighton (10-2) won its fifth straight game and scored at least 90 points for the eighth time this season. The Bluejays improved to 8-0 at home, while USC Upstate (4-11) remained winless in nine road games this season.

Malik Moore led Upstate with 15 points.
