Very cool! You will be among a living legend. Wonder how much he makes speaking.....I would think a coach like that could command tens of thousands.

Super cool opportunity!!!!!

800 people turned out tonight! Place was packed! Fulmer was there, Pearl was there.

They had a separate room set up for a photo op before the banquet. Wore an FSU button-down. Walked up to him, shook his hand and he said, "Like that shirt buddy". Told him I was a season ticket holder for 20 years before moving here. He asked if I enjoyed Knoxville and told him I love it here, just miss my Noles. He said, "Me too buddy!" :(

Got an autographed book and am looking forward to reading it.

His stories were great as you can imagine. I counted at least 20 "dad gum it's". :mj07:

He'll be 81 next week. I pray I'll get to see him again soon.

the guy has to be a legend for you like the Bear was for me:0074

Was lucky enough to meet him at 3 years old and then at least 20 times after...nothing like meeting the folks that made you proud to be a fan:toast:

Good stuff Nole, thought about you when I saw he was speaking at the QB club. I always liked Bobby Bowden because he was real. Didn't say typical scripted coach speak, just said what was on his mind.

Call me sometime, let's hit the links.(decoded - we can slap the ball around the course while we drink)

It was a great night!

I'll try to figure out a way to go golfing Skip.

FDC still has my 9-iron. Maybe I should check E-bay? :mj07:

I was 19, home for summer from Auburn and working at a private golf club in Birmingham. It was about 8 or so on a slow morning and I was "acting" like I was weed eating on a dog leg about a driver from the tees ( I was looking for golf balls... it was an obsession when I worked at the club.) A cart pulls up and a man gets out with a chaw in and says

"Dag gummit, you see a ball come through here?!"

I dropped my jaw and my weed eater.

"C-c-c-c-oach. Bowden, you can have one of these and I pull out a dozen or so brand new balls from my cargo pants, with them spilling all over the ground"

He started laughing so hard. His son Tommy was with him and he asked I show him "how to read the green on up", so I walked with him from his second shot in.

He stood over it and hit a worm burner. "Dog gone, nabbit and spit his chaw out."

We kept walking.

Being a kid, and not realizing I should LISTEN to him, I fill the silence with whatever I thought I had in common... I told him I did a work study at Samford, and worked for his son at Auburn in sports media relations. Told him we shared the same favorite breakfast spot in B'ham off University. (They were all true...)

He stopped and looked at me a spell, and said "You're one of the good guys." and winked.

That's all I remember... I think I floated the rest of the day...

I also think he missed the putt. :142smilie

He has a way about him. Good man.

RollTide has half of my sand wedge I think. :mj07:

I took my eight year old to play nine the other day. He was asking questions about which clubs to use, how to read a green, etc. I was loving it.

Then, he pulls out half of my sand wedge and asks, "Daddy, what happened here?" I said, "Son, quit asking so many questions.":142smilie
