A few quick notes.

NC State - My inside sources at Clemson...and when say I inside, I mean it Folx...have confirmed that Clemson OC Chad Morris is one of two top candidates to replace Tom O'Brien. The question is now whether NCSU will cough up enough cash to lure him away. It's going to take at least $1.6 a year. Morris has expressed an interest, but no official interview has been set yet.

Boston College - Have heard from a Coach's Agent in the Boston area that BC is strongly considering a return for Tom O'Brien. Interesting.

I have heard the same thing about Chad Morris to NC State. Hell, I'd love to run Mack Brown off at Texas and have Morris here.

Funny you say O'Brien to BC, he would be the safe bet for sure....close friend of mine works in the Athletic Dept. at BC and he said just what you did in this post on Sunday during our chat! I could totally see it happening.

Didn't BC fire a coach for just taking an NFL-interview? Now they are going to rehire a guy that bolted on them a few years ago? That doesn't make sense.

Has anyone heard anything about Tennessee ???

Very, very quiet around here. All the media is going nuts, and all the media is saying that there is NO WAY Gruden is coming.

New names get thrown out every day, but as one outsider noted yesterday, every coach around is asking the same question you are Packers which is very odd considering you can't keep anything quiet these days.

My best guess is something happens this week with a candidate, or it would be another week to ten days. The lid will start coming off soon.

Scott, lots of stuff going on right now behind the scenes at Texas. Stay tuned. Its going to get real interesting...

Yeah, I heard a little birdy talking outside of my window that said UT is already looking at Patterson. He would be a GREAT hire for UT but I don't want it to happen for the Big12. Keep Patterson at TCU and let UT go outside of the conference. Say Chip Kelly. I know people will say there's no way he would leave for UT. Those are probably the same people that said UT would never have it's own network.

HEAT...I HAD HEARD THAT ABOUT MORRIS...DO YOU KNOW WHO THE OTHER TOP CANDIDATE MIGHT BE? I HEARD FRANKLIN FROM VANDY BUT DIDNT KNOW THE VALIDITY OF THE RUMOR.

THAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT O'BRIENS RET TO BC...COULD DEFINITELY SEE IT HAPPENING. THEY HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR IDENTITY AND SUCCESS SINCE HE LEFT.

Chip Kelly is THE guy that I would love to see UT hire, but I don't think they'll even look at him due to his ties with Lyles. Texas would be ridiculous with Chip Kelly as HC! I'll post more info as I hear it. I've got a very reliable source who is wired into the program.

Is there any chance that Tuberville is run off at Tech after the season? If so, would Tech consider offering the HC job to Kingsbury? He's definitely an up and comer and he's going to be getting some serious looks soon. He won't be the OC at A&M much longer.

First, I don't think Tubs is out of here this year. The fact is that the last two recruiting classes that Leach had were absolute crap. I think he knew he was either out on his own or by the school because he had no talent and those classes should have been good based on the success of the 08 season. IMO he deserves more time. The Big12 has gotten better and he needs more talent to get the job done. This coming year should be very telling.

Neal Brown(OC) might be out though. I've been told that he's gotten his name out as much as he can for other jobs.

Saying all of that, if Tubs is out for any reason then I think they look at Dykes, Briles and maybe Kliff. All three have ties to Tech and IMO would all take the job. I know for sure Dykes and Briles would.

I don't think Kliff has the experience yet to hire him for a HC job. I think he'll be a good one some day but needs more experience.

awesome, they need some changes, starting with getting rid of Mack, he has been there 15 years and with his resources has only won 1 National Title and been very disappointing the last 3 years :sadwave:

Chris Peterson, Chip Kelly or Gary Patterson would be great hires for Texas

Looks like Stoops(FSU) is going to be UKs coach. Not sure about that move for him. I would take DC at FSU over HC at UK.

Wood.

Keep Tubs around for a little while. Pat Sullivan probably making a play for next AD at Auburn. Warming the seat up for Tubs to come on back to the plains and be our AD when he's finished

thanks

This may sound crazy but if I was Texas and decided to get rid of Brown I think I would look really hard at the Stanford coach. He's done a great job at Stanford and his teams play the way I would want my team playing. He's also shown the big game isn't too big for him.

I'm an anti UT person but IMO it's time for Brown to go. UT owes him everything and their success is because of him. They were a good program but nothing like they are now. But I think the big thing you can look at is recruiting. At this point UT is #1-#2 in the recruiting rankings for the coming year. At this point I think they're somewhere like 11. That's a BIG drop compared to where they normally are and to me it shows a general direction of the program.

Word is they're losing quite a few players that want to leave. That won't be good for Brown if it indeed happens.
