This may sound crazy but if I was Texas and decided to get rid of Brown I think I would look really hard at the Stanford coach. He's done a great job at Stanford and his teams play the way I would want my team playing. He's also shown the big game isn't too big for him.

I'm an anti UT person but IMO it's time for Brown to go. UT owes him everything and their success is because of him. They were a good program but nothing like they are now. But I think the big thing you can look at is recruiting. At this point UT is #1-#2 in the recruiting rankings for the coming year. At this point I think they're somewhere like 11. That's a BIG drop compared to where they normally are and to me it shows a general direction of the program.

Word is they're losing quite a few players that want to leave. That won't be good for Brown if it indeed happens.

Texas is number 1 or 2 in recruiting every year, they will not go anywhere if they dont have a qb worth a shit.

I'm not sure what to think about that. They've had some really good college QBs. The thing that hurt them is that Gilbert, who was the #1 QB coming out, didn't live up to the billing. They missed on him and so did EVERYONE else ranking them.

IMO UT doesn't have an identity and has been looking for one for too long now.

For starters, Malcolm Brown, the RB, is going to transfer. He's always "hurt" and he won't play if he's dinged up for fear of hurting his draft status. This is exactly the type of player that Texas doesn't need in the program. :nono:

Wood.

Keep Tubs around for a little while. Pat Sullivan probably making a play for next AD at Auburn. Warming the seat up for Tubs to come on back to the plains and be our AD when he's finished

thanks

Lankford - I am hearing from solid ppl that Petrino is a done deal?

I think the Stoops family has proven that their "peter principle" level is as a coordinator.

This hiring at Kentucky only means that he will be available as a D-coordinator in a couple years.

The Arizona Stoops was a failure and the Oklahoma Stoops continues to ride the crest of one year, albeit a national championship, and since has under-achieved year after year based on the talent and athletes recruited o OK.

Maybe Kentucky should just give up the program.

I'm not a fan of Bob but he's suffered thru the same thing that others that keep top programs suffer from, he's lost a ton of coordinators. I think that doesn't get spoken about enough with these guys. IMO it killed Bobby Bowden in the end. As a HC in college football you just can't lean on assistants too much because they wont' be around too long if you're successful.

NC State board is having emergency meeting, which only means that they want to offer a coach now rather than wait until the Bowl Game so that recruiting doesn't suffer, NC State already had some verbals which don't mean nothing until signing date in Feb anyways, but my guess is they bring in Franklin from Vandy who'll need a large buyout, plus they have to agree to payout for TOB (O'Brien), Yow wants to move into a perennial top 25 Power so she states and indicates..

Names not talked about much that should be is HC at Navy (Niumatalolo) who has worked basically without use of scholarships, he'd be a great fit at a school like a BC or Vanderbilt or Rutgers if Flood bolts for something bigger, like Shiano did, if Franklin bolts the 'Dores. HC from N Illinois - Doernen is a hot name so is Kent HS Hazel who has lots of ties out there, Tim DeRuyter at Fresno was a top Coordinator at A&M and did great in his first year, albeit, he had recruits that Pat Hill had in place and many new JC kids that wanted to play for Tim.

My guess is Chris Petersen is a hot name for Colorado football because they took Hawkins and he didn't do squat for the Buffaloes, so bring in act II from Boise and screw that up huh? NAH, Petersen will stay put unless he can go somewhere where he can get JC kids into the school, Cal would be ruled out in that scenario (Top Academic school), however Arkansas and Tennessee do take in transfer students so possible he could go into the SEC where the money might be better and definitely the TV will be.

East Carolina is moving to the Big East which isn't surprising! So they will keep their HC Ruffin.

Gus Malzahn rumored for Auburn, a program where he once served and is under NCAA scrutiny in which Gus was part of, I don't see Gus going there, but he could land at Arkansas since he already lives there at Arkie State.

Dykes will probably go to Southern Miss from La Tech. Ellis Johnson was as much HC material as Jerry Springer would be Vice-President of the USA, he belongs as a Coordinator in a program where he can just do his job, he can't multi-task!

Stockstill & Berry from Middle Tenn & UL-Monroe will be names circulated about at Southern Miss too.

Colorado and Tennessee would be jobs that would pay well, but their track record for hiring the right person and having control of the program is something a highly touted coordinator or HC from another viable program would probably pass on, unless they want the opportunity to be honest.

I hope coaches that have been given the heave ho don't show back up like Butch Davis, Petrino or Tressel, cheaters don't ever win and they've broken more hearts than Elvis did!

Later!

Regarding the Texas situation, supposedly, the agents for Chip Kelly, Peterson, and Patterson have contacted Deloss Dodds about the ?opening?.

Right now a lot of people are pissed and Mack doesn?t have much support. I'm still trying to find out more. I'll post the info as I learn more. I think Deloss in jeopardy of losing his job as well and is fortifying his bunker.

That may be Kiffin's dad as Lane has to figure out a way to jettison his father.

Arkansas has made a head-coaching offer to LSU's Les Miles, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports, citing a source.

The Razorbacks offered five years, $27.5 million, according to the paper.

"They made a serious offer," a source told the newspaper. "(Athletic director) Joe (Alleva) is meeting with (Miles') agent and the discussion is ongoing."

Miles' agent, George Bass, dismissed the report, telling the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette: "There's nothing like that going on."

Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long announced Saturday the school would not be bringing back John L. Smith.

The former Michigan State and Louisville coach was hired from Weber State in April to replace the fired Bobby Petrino and signed to a 10-month contract. Long says that once a new coach is hired, Smith will be reassigned as a consultant through the end of his deal on Feb. 23, 2013.

SportsByBrooks.com earlier reported the news on its Twitter account.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette told the paper that Miles "didn't have anything to say."

LSU beat Arkansas in its final regular-season game on Friday, finishing with double-digit wins for the sixth time in eight seasons under Miles.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Just don't see Patterson going anytime soon. TCU will be loaded for next few years. Almost finished building his new house. Lots of ties to the area. He's a legend in Ft Worth. Not a CEO type of coach that Texas would require him to be. But, he's always said he will listen to any job offer and never say never.
