IMO wrt Texas coach Mac Brown, it all depends if Bill Snyder wants to cut his balls off Sat. If KSU throttles UT, Mac may be fired. Who does Snyder want to face next year? Mac Brown, or someone who can coach?

inside info about Texas, I just heard...Mack is out after the season is over, the rich alumni want him gone

Pete Carroll is rumored to be interested
If Mack does go, which is a strong possibility, look for UF HC to come back, he has a lot of ties to the Longhorn program, UF then would hire the OC from Clemson.

Carroll, Butch Davis, Bobby Petrino all need to stay out of the pool of openings, Petrino would work out great with harley davidson and maybe even do some side work with Ron Jeremy films! Pete Carroll was built by his coordinators, Sarkisian is one of his disciples. Butch Davis was under scrutiny at UM before bolting for the Browns and he couldn't even run the Browns with the young players they had when he came in.

Agree. Muschamp isn't coming back to Texas for that reason. Plus, he signed an extension with Florida in September.

Here is who I would like to see as head coaching candidates at Texas:

1. Chip Kelly
2. Nick Saban
3. Chris Peterson
4. Gary Patterson
5. Chad Morris
6. David Shaw

As a Texas alum, I would love Kelly but he is gonna go to the NFL before he goes to another college job. Same story with Shaw who has nfl roots. Muschamp isn't coming back after getting burned as coach in waiting. Morris isn't a proven commodity yet so I don't see him at Texas.

I have always been eager to see what Saban or Spurrier could do in a hotbed like Texas. Patterson could also be a great hire since the guy knows the state and how to coach

I think we get throttled by 30 this weekend, Mack resigns and assumes role as AD in waiting, and hopefully we bring in Saban after he gets bored with his second consecutive ring in Bama

I wonder if Texas will approach Saban,as they have plenty of money,,Sad thing is Bama ,like every other program that has success, has plenty of money as well to match ,and would, whatever Texas offers,,Then Bama has to give Saban a raise,he stays ,and ticket prices get raised even more ,and it costs more to become a Tide Pride member just to get on a list to order tickets,,etc etc etc,,The only winner is the coach amd maybe the university if that team wins as Bama revenue has quadrupled since Saban arrived,,What is sad is that the hard working blue collar family of four cant afford, nor even get, tickets to a game,,,

If, and when Saban leaves Alabama, it'll be because he wants a new challenge and have nothing to do with money. At some point he's going to leave and give the NFL a try or go to another college program. IF he goes to another college program, I would think Texas would be at the top of his list. The question is, how much longer does he stay?

Saban to the NFL as a head coach won't happen. That shipped sailed a long time ago. He realized that the grass wasn't greener in the NFL. Saban is a control freak and when you've got players making the $$$ that they do, they aren't going to put up with Saban's attitude, etc.

As far as Saban to another school... in my heart I don't see it happening... but if it did, I think Texas would be one of the few schools out there he would consider. As mentioned in an earlier post, money is not an issue for either school, but it's not an issue for Saban either. I truly believe that Saban is comfortable at 'Bama and if he was going to leave it would have been after the '09 or '10 season. Saban is in TOTAL control of the 'Bama program. I guarantee you that he has final say in EVERY aspect of the program. I don't know many college presidents/ADs that are willing to give up their power to Saban. That to me is the deal breaker. If he can't have total control/final say in ALL football matters than he isn't interested.

Bama fans, I know you want Saban to stay there forever, but IMO he's not going to retire from Alabama. He's going to get bored. What more can he accomplish there? He's going to leave at some point. The question is when? It won't be about Alabama trying to match an offer from somewhere else to get him to stay. It'll be about him leaving because he wants to go somewhere for a new challenge.

Aww, so you are confident in him becoming bored and wanting to try winning at a new program?

Funny Lankford, I am hearing every name for every job. I am done trying to figure things out. Today people here are saying Charlie Strong will be here within 1-2 days, but I don't believe it anymore.

I still think there is as good of a chance that Fulmer will coach here next year as anyone else:mj07:

So many people that have as many "inside connections" as my dog just throwing shit on the wall hoping it sticks. At this point, barring some unnamed mystery candidate that is a "big splash hire," the AU fanbase is going to be really upset with anyone but Petrino.

If we hire Gus Malzahn, the lack of season ticket renewals in March is going to be eye opening for our athletic department.

I know we play Arkansas State 2nd game of the season next year. All the Bible-Beaters that are anti-petrino would forget all about that affair if we beat the hell out of ASU in september. Pretty sure Gus is the leading candidate for these people searching for a "true auburn man"... aka gene chizik.
