Why do you say "unfriendly" to the environment and the drinker? I have a "personal" K-cup that I load with my regular coffee. The brew time, even from cold, is substantially less than the time it would take to microwave a cup of water.

We're not big coffee drinkers so it's a waste to brew a whole pot before work in the morning. I like it because it brews the cup in seconds and my husband or guests can have bolder roasts or different flavors if they prefer.

After I go through the brew step, I want to spend the rest of my time drinking and pouring. I set the water level and adjust the grounds to make enough for 4 cups. When my F-in-Law is here, I adjust it up to 6 cups.
