22-17...

feel like i made quite a few stupid bets last week...hopefully i'm a little smarter this week...

mich.st.-7(115)....

i wanted to post this play just in case it goes up...really like msu in this spot....this is msu's 3rd straight home game, while this will be pitt's first road game with their freshman qb. i'll probably have more about this later in the week.

good luck.

fading a 1st road start for a young QB is a nice angle. Will look at this one too. GL

The only thing that scares me about this game AR is the line itself...Sagarin has State by 21 if I figured it correctly...which would seem logical to me. State did pound them last year at Pit and I don't think Pit is as good as they were last year...not for sure about the Spartans but they seem to be hitting on all cylinders right now...I do know they tend to fade late tho. I don't know if it works in football...but I've seen it fairly consistent in BBall...if their is more than a 9 or 10pt difference between Sagarin and 'the man'...just play 'follow the man'. Will be pulling for you as it is a no play for me...Good luck...btw, there are several games this weekend where there is more than a 9 pt difference.

pitt. has alot of injuries to key players which probably explains why the line has risen so dramatically...

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt defensive tackle Gus Mustakas will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, leaving the Panthers without their top defensive lineman.

Mustakas was injured during the third quarter of a 34-10 victory over Grambling State on Saturday. Because he was hurt in the second game of the season, the junior can apply for a medical redshirt that will allow him to play two more seasons.

''We are incredibly disappointed for Gus,'' Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said Monday. ''He was off to an outstanding start this season and has been playing like an all-star caliber defensive lineman since the spring.''

Mustakas had 11 tackles in Pitt's first two games, including two for losses. A season ago, he scored the first touchdown by a Pitt defensive lineman since 1999 on an interception return against Toledo.

Pitt plays Saturday at Michigan State as a 9 ?-point underdog. The Spartans had 533 yards of offense during a 38-23 victory in Pittsburgh last season.

Best of luck AR. I'm with you in thinking the new Spartan coach is going to have a huge positive impact on this team.

thanks blackman...appreciate it.

i have been wondering about why the msu line is continuing to rise.....& found this from a pitt. website which could explain the line rising......

concerning pitt injuries....

Here?s the way things are looking right now:

Derek Kinder ? WR ? ACL, out for year (starter)
Chris Jacobson ? OL ? Dislocated kneecap, out for year
Dan Matha ? OL ? Shoulder injury, out for year
Bill Stull ? QB ? Torn thumb ligaments, out for about 6 weeks (starter)
Elijah Fields ? S ? Team rules violation, suspended for the year
Gus Mustakas ?DT ? ACL, out for year (starter)
Kevin Collier ? RB ? Broken wrist, out for year

Then there are the walking wounded. Players who are playing with nagging injuries (already).

John Pelusi ? TE
Aaron Berry ? CB(starter)
Joe Thomas ? OL(starter)
LaRod Stephens-Howling ? RB (starter)

some people have pointed out that msu may be overlooking pitt because they have nd next...don't know about that....but the same can be said about pitt., who has a revenge match next week vs. conn., who knocked pitt. out of bowl contention lst year.

good luck.

adding....

vandy-4(120)....

i think the line has gone down on this game because the questionable status of vandy's starting qb(nickson).but i read that his backup, adams isn't too far behind nickson in ability. so i'm assuming that nickerson won't play.

i had vandy last week vs. bama, & eventhough vandy was outclassed, vandy's defense still held bama to only 17 offensive points.so i think if vandy can contain miss's running game somewhat, i don't think miss. will be able to contain bennet or keep up to the damage that vandy does against their defense....which is ranked 11th worst defense in the nation & has given up an average of 300 passing yards per game & 1117 total yards in their 2 games so far this year.

i look for vandy to get revenge from last year's 17-10 loss to miss.....a game that vandy had a huge yardage advantage.....400-179....& first down edge...23-7.

also played navy-7....may have write-up on this game later in the week.

good luck.
