Colleen Shannon -- a 2004 Playboy Playmate -- was ARRESTED last night after allegedly trying to smuggle an unidentified male into the U.S. through the Canadian border.
Law enforcement tells us ... the 34-year-old blonde is currently locked up in Clinton County Jail in Upstate New York, where she was booked for violating a federal statute prohibiting "bringing in and harboring aliens."
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us the foreigner is Shannon's boyfriend ... but we have yet to confirm.
If convicted on the charge, she could face up to 10 years in prison.
