YTD Record: 18-16 for -0.35 units

Lost last time out with my ECU play. For today:

Virginia +200 (@ Florida St.) for 2 units ? Premier matchup of the weekend with both clubs in the top 5. FSU is a very good squad posting a 12-0 record so far. Typical offense-happy club for the Noles posting double-digit runs in all but 3 of those games. Virginia is a very good offensive team as well, but not posting the type of numbers FSU is right now. Starting pitching has two good Soph all-american south-paws facing eachother. However, in my mind the pitching edge has to go to UVa and Danny Hultzen and there is no way UVa should be a +200 dog with him on the mound against anyone in the country. Gilmartin is good and has stingy numbers so far this year, but Hultzen is a notch above. These two faced eachother last year and the outcome was heavily in the Cav?s favor as they won 15-2, Hultzen gave up 1 ER in 7 IP while Gilmartin gave up 7 R?s and 4 ER?s in 4 IP.

Texas A&M -185 (vs. Wash. St.) for 2 units ? both teams have raced out to good records so far against below average competition. Offenses are pretty similar but a big advantage in pitching goes to A&M. First their starter is Junior Barret Loux, who is a strikeout pitcher (26 K?s in 17 IP) who has a 1.06 ERA and .156 OBA in three starts this year. The strikeouts could be big as the Cougars were pretty free swinging K?ing over 7 times a game last year, though they have brought that # down so far this year. A&M?s bullpen has done well too so far this season giving up only 4 ER in 47 2/3 IP. Washington St. counters with Junior Chad Arnold who has a 3.79 ERA and .236 OBA.

Good day hitting both plays. UVA blanks FSU 5-0 as Hultzen was very impressive pitching 6 innings of 2 Hit ball in that game. A&M wins 4-3 and Loux K's 11 in 5 1/3 IP.

Updated Record: 20-16 for +5.65 units

A chalky day today, but this is what I?m going with:

Rice -175 (vs. Cal) for 2 units ? Rice still not their usual selves losing the first two games to Cal. Think they will bounce back today as they have a favorable pitching matchup. Cal sends Soph Dixon Anderson (4.26 ERA; .233 OBA, 17 K?s in 19 IP) to the mound to start. Though his numbers through 3 starts aren?t bad, all of his 9 ER?s (and 3 HR?s allowed) on the year came in his last outing versus Arkansas, consequently the only decent team he has faced. Rice hasn?t produced offensively as expected headed into the year but they do have the potential and should be able to rough him up early. Rice sends Tony Cingrani to the mound for his fourth start of the year. After a rough initial outing against Stanford, Cingrani was good in his last two outings both against decent competition. On the year he has a 4.70 ERA; .172 OBA and 11 K?s in 15 1/3 IP. His issues have been BB?s as he has issued 11 of them. Cal has not been a patient club at the plate, so I don?t think that will be a factor today.

UCLA -175 (vs. Miss St.) for 4 units ? a game where all edges are in the Bruins favor. Offensively and fielding wise they are the better squad, and starting pitching has a big edge for them. All-american Trevor Bauer goes for the Bruins and he has a 2.45 ERA; .192 OBA and 23 K?s in 14. 2/3 IP over two starts this season. He opposes true Frosh Chris Stratton. Stratton has performed well in the #2 starting role for the Bulldogs so far this year (2.25 ERA; .222 OBA and 15?s over 16 IP in three starts). However, this is one of those games where UCLA is far better offensively than any club the youngster has faced so far.

Texas A&M -175 (vs. Wash St.) for 2 units ? good advantage again on the mound for the Aggies. Ross Stripling (A&M) opposes Spencer Jackson (Wazzou). Though both are Sophomore?s, Stripling is the much more polished of the two with a decent amount more experience.

quickly today:

TCU -240 (vs. Texas Tech) for 1 unit - big juice but TCU is a much better team all-around. Kyle Winkler goes for TCU on the mound and is one of the best #3 pitchers in the nation imo.

Texas A&M +130 (vs. Washington St.) for 2 units - Third straight day of going with the Aggies, but feel they win the rubber-match today at home.

last minute post as I didn't realize this one was an early game:

Coastal Carolina -140 (@ College of Charleston) for 2 units - simple play on the well rounded team that has edges across the board. No starting pitchers listed but Coastal has the better staff, even outside of their weekend stars.

Looking into the other games now.

It is actually a 5pm est start. thegreek is not down with the time change.

earlier this year betus had a bad time for an ECU/UVa game and had it on the board an hour after the start time. Unfortunately the game was still 0-0 by the time their start time rolled around so I didn't get a chance to take advantage of that.

Florida St. -115 (@ Florida) for 2 units - Both good teams but like the offensive power of the Seminoles. Two freshman starting and Florida's (Hudson Randall) got hit pretty hard by FSU in their prior matchup this year (in a relief appearance).

0-2 yesterday as mid-week games cotinue to be my demise. Still going to take a small shot today:

Fulerton +120 (vs. ASU) for 1 unit - Tyler Pill getting a mid-week start and think he can help the Titans split this 2 game series. Pill hasn't been terrible (4.39 ERA; .260 OBA; 25 K's in 26 2/3 IP) but far from the year he had last year as a Frosh all-american.
