6-7....

this is a repost of my previous comments along with additional comments on this game....

5* tcu-6 (130)....

this is a rematch from last season....i had tcu last year on the moneyline & although tcu out yarded boise (472-250) by quite a bit, they only won by 1point....think it will be a lot different this year because tcu can score & feel the frogs will be out to make a statement in this game....

unlike past years, tcu can score this year as they averaged about 40 ppg & they feature a balanced offense as they average 256 ypg on the ground & 217 yds. through the air....they completely dominated byu 38-7 & utah 55-28 & had a solid road win at clemson in which they held the tigers to a little over 300 total yards....

while boise has the #1 scoring offense (44 ppg) in the nation,it was against a weak schedule....they haven't faced a dominating defense like tcu has that is led by de jerry hughes, who will be going against a freshman making his first start because the starting tackle for boise is out for this game....

in last year's bowl game, tcu stopped boise's running attack that was led by ian johnson & held him to just 28 rushing yards....this year the tcu defense allows 80 ypg on the ground & for the year tcu has the nation's #1 defense in total yards allowed, they are # 4 in pass defense, & #2 in rush defense....

tcu has played a tougher schedule than boise & have given up an average of 11.7 ppoints per game on the road while boise allows 22.3 ppg on the road....

while boise has a solid pass defense, their run defense is ranked #49 against the sub-par schedule that they played....their top 3 wac opponents, nevada, fresno, & idaho rushed for a combined 771 yds. at about 6 ypc & scored on average 34 points....

when looking at the size of both teams lines, tcu's offensive line has every player over 300 pounds, & their nose tackles are 295+ lbs..... boise state does not have 1 player on either line that is over 300 pounds.....that is why you can run on boise....

in looking at the bowl teams that each has faced....tcu has played 6 bowl teams while boise state played 5.....tcu's bowl teams have gone 6-0 su/ats this bowl season, while boise state's bowl teams have gone 1-4 su with the only win being idaho who beat bowling green, who also played boise....in addition it was mwc wyoming who beat wac team fresno & it was smu who beat wac's nevada in earlier bowl games....

i keep reading that if boise could upset oklahoma in a bowl, they can also do the same against tcu....imo that is an irrelevant comparison because at the time boise was just an upstart & okla. was not motivated in playing a team from an inferior conference....that is not the case this year because both boise st. & tcu are looking for national prestige which will happen to the winner in his bcs bowl....

anything can happen in bowl games....but i will take the team with the better balance on offense & the better defense & i am looking for tcu to make a statement in this game that they are just as good as bama, texas, & fla....

good luck....
