On MSU with you. I like EMU a fair amount too. QB play will be huge in that game and Ball St. has one of the worst defenses in the MAC. Toledo will have a smooth transition at HC with their former OC taking over. GL this season.

Northwestern -1' Syracuse

FIU +4 Duke

I like FIU alot and think they win outright. Any reasons on your NW play though? I hate betting against SU at home. They always seem to get any marginal call and always bring a hell of an effort at home. Thoughts?

I think Syracuse's defense will struggle in this one. They weren't good last year, may be worse this year. NW should be able to put some points on the board and win a shootout.

Thanks for the quick reply. Great points on SU D. I do recall watching them a few times last year and their D gave away a few games. GL!

After seeing you on the EMU Under, I may just bet the side. I defer to your knowledge about these teams.

Syracuse top OL ( Pugh) out for this game. OL Hickey playing 1st game in two years. Running game is a question mark as no one has stepped up in camp. Watch true freshman Broylds. Will play little WR, RB, and wildcat. SU very high on him.

Defense has been looking good in camp. Lot of depth on the line, two returning LB, and a stud in secondary (Sharmako Thomas). I think this will be the best defense in Marrone tenure.

That being said, I agree that NW will be tough. Just better athletes. SU always has problems with mobile QB's.

You won't read this anywhere but season tickets sales are way down at SU. Fans upset that USC game moved to Meadowlands leaving only five home dates, one of which being Stoneybrook. Fans also still smarting from last years collapse ( started 5-1 and then lost last five). Lots of noise about whether Marrone is the man to get the job done. This is a 12 noon game which is not typically well attended by students as they are to hung over to get out of bed. The state Fair is also going on right down the road. Being the opener, these things may not matter but SU has not had much of a home field advantage in recent years.

Like your picks for the most part BG, don't have anything against any of them.

Does Bowling Green have any kind of defense at all, was almost thinking of them as a possible big dog?

I do know twofingers knows his Syracuse football.

They should be better than they have been. But Florida will not have trouble scoring with their athletes. Sounds like BG is going to try to run the ball more this year which will help the defense as well. Carl Spackler likes the Falcons with the points. I'm sticking with the over.

Thanks for your opinion, just figured Florida has got to laying at least a few more than they should.

Saw Spac's post, made me feel better but still undecided. GL with your plays!
