Ohio St. -1 over Texas: Saturday night at the Horseshoe? Mack Brown vs. Jim Tressel? That should be enough to lay the small chalk. But, even though I am not a big Buckeye fan, you've gotta respect their defense. They will shut down Vince Young's running and force him to throw. We've seen that before--it's not pretty. Offensively, Ohio St. will benefit from good field position to punch in a few scores for the relatively easy win.

EMU/ULL over 56.5: This total keeps dropping and I'm not sure why. EMU has shown an ability to score and ULL (Usually Lose Large) also moves the ball pretty well. Eastern's game with Cincinnati hit 54 so I don't see this game staying in the 50's. The other plus is neither team can rely on their defense to protect a lead so they will continue to try to score late in the game.

Wisconsin/Temple under 53.5: Is this number inflated because of the BG game? I don't see Wisconsin scoring like they did last week, mainly because they won't need to. Will Temple score? Maybe once. This game is a lot like the Buffalo/UConn game last week. As long as Wisky doesn't score 50, the game will stay under.

NIU +3 over NW: The Huskies played pretty well against Michigan last week. Too many turnovers and too many athletes on the Michigan offense made the upset impossible. But, this is a very winnable game. Northwestern had a solid opening win against Ohio but the Huskies are much better than the Bobcats. I think the offensive line of NIU is the difference here as the Huskies will control the ball and grind out a win. Take the points.

North Texas/MTSU under 47.5: MTSU played very solid defense last week against Alabama. Their offense was non-existent but that is to be expected when you are physically mismatched. MTSU has been a very effective passing team in the Sun Belt recently but has realized they need to be able to run the ball to compete. North Texas has two great running backs and a rookie quarterback. They are going to pound the ball the whole game. But, since they didn't play last week, they will sputter offensively. Two solid defenses, a rookie QB and a team changing their offensive philosophy? I'll take the under in a game that will play a big role in deciding the Sun Belt champion.

The Citadel +46.5 over Florida State: I can't resist this matchup. The Citadel has the discipline to stick with their gameplan which will be to try to run the ball and play field position. They were able to do this last year against Auburn and cover. If they can have any kind of success they won't give FSU enough possessions for their struggling offense to score seven touchdowns. One FG out of The Citadel ought to be enough for the cover especially with FSU looking forward to next week's matchup with BC.

Indiana -21 over Nicholls St.: Look for Indiana to move the ball all over the field against Nicholls St. NSU has been limited with practice time due to the hurricane and had to cancel their first game. Indiana should easily cover the three TD's and roll to a big win.

Where did you see this game? I don't see it on my list.

You have to look at 5Dimes in order to pick up the FSU/Citadel line or the Indiana line. FSU must have just come up late last night or this morning because I don't remember seeing it yesterday. However, I jumped on the Indiana line yesterday afternoon with both feet. I think BGFalcon has found two very weak lines here.

Two more...

Two more...

...as I await the Indiana/Nicholls St. kickoff:

BGSU -17 (1st half) over Ball St.: BG's offensive machine scored plenty against a solid Wisconsin team last week and I don't see that changing here. Testicle Tech is possibly the worst team in the nation and even home field won't make a difference. BG scores early and often and rolls up a big halftime lead.

Toledo -13 (1st half) over WMU: Rockets are very tough at home and Western is not tough anywhere, though they hung in there last week. They are simply too inexperienced to handle Toledo's offense. I like the game side also but not as much as the 1st half.
