Temple -3.5 over Buffalo--Missed the -3 opener but still like this at -3.5. Buffalo does not seem to be getting any better while Temple is showing signs of life. Buffalo also has a lot of fat girls that like to slam beers at Winking Lizard during the MAC Basketball Tournament.

Writeups and 2 totals

Writeups and 2 totals

Akron +29.5 over Ohio St. and Under 53--Buckeyes defense is strong again but the offense is still developing. Akron is a solid MAC team and should keep this one somewhat respectable. They shut down Army (I know, I know) in a game that wasn't as close as the score. Buckeyes will pound it out on the ground and win a 31-7 or 31-10 type game.

Ohio -1 over ULL--Lafayette played surprisingly well last week against S. Carolina. Fenroy is a very good running back but their passing game is poor. Ohio shows a little better balance in their offense this year and I think that will be the difference. Bobcats won't be intimidated by all the drunken Cajuns in the stands since they see that in Athens every weekend.

Notre Dame/Penn St. under 43.5--I had the under in the Penn St./FIU game because I didn't think PSU could score in the 50's. But I underestimated how bad FIU is. PSU got several gifts to inflate that score. This week ND is starting Clausen at QB and will continue to struggle to find the end zone. They may need to wait until they go up against the Wolverines defense before they sniff the end zone. I think this one stays in the 30's.

Miami (OH) +9 Minnesota--I thought this line was a mistake. Minnesota has no business laying more than a TD to anyone, especially a team like Miami. I'll fade the Gophers as long as they are a favorite.

Really like that Zips under play. The Akron secondary looked pretty damned good and God knows that they will struggle on the other side of the ball. I do worry though that the inexperience at QB may give the Buckeyes a defensive TD or two. Still thats a play for me as well.

GL this week Falcon

Divison I-AA

Divison I-AA

Iona +7 over Wagner--Both teams won their openers and appear to very evenly matched. I'll take the TD.

Monmouth -17 over Robert Morris--Bobby Mo surprised a lot of teams last year but didn't play well against Dayton last week. Monmouth was tied with Maine with about 5 minutes to play before losing. As long as Monmouth can control RMU's passing game they will roll.

Prarie View A&M -10 over NC A&T--NC A&T has lost 17 in a row. Prarie View handled Texas Southern last week while forcing 5 TO's. PV will make enough big plays to cover this number.

Delaware St. +2.5 over Florida A&M--FAMU's QB's were a combined 2-21 last week. That fact alone makes me wonder how they can be favored. Delaware St. had a solid win over Coastal Carolina and showed they can move the ball.

San Diego -32.5 over Marist--San Diego is one of the top programs in the FCS and Marist is rotten. They managed -14 yards rushing and 6 fumbles last week. San Diego's 42-32 win over Azusa Pacific was misleading as AP scored the last 22 points during garbage time. SD tends to really lay the wood to bad teams.

UC Davis +2 over Portland St.--UC Davis is another perennial power in the FCS. They lost three fumbles last week in a close loss to W. Washington. Portland St. was held to -10 yards rushing in a 35-12 loss to McNeese St. Even on the road, UC Davis should be favored by a TD.

Villanova was a close one for me. I would play it at PK.

S. Carolina St. fell within my range but I try not to lay a TD on the road. I threw it out because I had six other plays that I had rated a little better. Again, it is very close and a solid play.

I think the Southern U line is about right.

My numbers haven't been real good when Division I goes against I-AA so I will pass. I do think the line should be around 17 if that helps.

In summary, if I had to give an opinion on these games, I would say you are on the right side of two of them and the Southern game is a tossup. The Illinois game is the one I can't help with.

Thanks for your input. I like Ill as Western only has 3 starters back on Off and a new QB-they have 8 starters back on def. I was impressed watching Ill last week. I am sure there will be a let down after getting beat by Mizzo--but think there is a very big talent gap here and they can cover this spread eventually. GL

Last two for Saturday

Last two for Saturday

Spart -10 (H1) over BGSU--Don't be fooled by BG's win last week, they are not very good. Sparty should come out smoking and BG's defense won't have a chance. I also like -3.5 for the first quarter and -17.5 for the game but the halftime is the best play.

Toledo/CMU over 52.5--This number opened at 53.5 went up to 54.5 and now is creeping down. At 52.5 it is a play for me. Both teams can score and Toledo, as usual, shows little interest in playing defense. This one might go down a little more but I think it is good right now.
