Oregon State v. Boise State is one of the more curious games this week and one that either side can be argued for when handicapping the game.
We won't find out OSU's true mentality until the game is well underway but letting a major upset slip away is hard to stomach.
Beavers D is best unit that Boise will face this season. Few starters return for the Broncos but staff is high on OL and QB Zabransky has the talent and gunslinger's mentality (both positive and negative) to get this O near the same level as last season. RB-by-committee for now but Marks, Carter, Jones, Lau and Carpenter provide depth. WR's are always rotated in, so not a concern there. No star at wideout but TE is gonna provide matchup worries.
It is JZ's 2nd career start so that is a cause for concern. But in watching him last year in limited action, he has future star written all over him. Broncs kept things under-wraps v. Idaho and hopefullly staff utilizes his mobility more.
Not conviced that Beaver QB Anderson has purged himself of the INT bug. OSU ground game not as promising this season but HC Riley will no doubt want to get it going v. Boise D which is much better geared towards defending the pass. DE Roberts and solid back seven for Broncos will make things tough. I think OSU TE will be difficult to cover though, but I smell a pick-six for Broncos.
ST's edge goes to Boise and it's not just about the place kicking.
HC Hawkins and OC Peterson are top-notch coaches. This staff has BSU focused and prepared for every game.
Boise gets momentum early in front of a packed crowd and posts a solid victory.
