I read that this game is for the Bronze Stalk Trophy (never heard of it either....lol)....In addition to be playing for this trophy, the Huskies can clinch their first MAC West Crown since 2002 & with a win here & in their next game, N.Ill. can have their first unbeaten MAC season ever....
These 2 teams have played 5 common opponents, with NI 5-0 SU (4-1 ATS all as favorites) winning by an average score of 44-17, while BSU is 3-2 SU/ATS (3 as dog) with an average score of 26-25....
NI averages 261 ypg rushing the ball (5.9 ypc), while BSU allows an average of 177 ypg (4.6 ypc) on the ground....
Here is a trend that plays against Ball St....
Since 1980, college teams in conference games off b2b victories are just 45-70-3 ATS (39%) in season-ending games if their last win was as an underdog....Also these teams are just 11-28-1 ATS (28%) in these games when facing a conference opponent off a win of more than 10 points in its previous game....In addition if these teams did not cover the spread by 20 or more points in its aforementioned upset win, they dip to 5-25-1 ATS (16.6%)....Finally, these same teams are 3-22-1 ATS (12%) if they failed to win 10 games the previous season....
