bbc..don't let me talk you out of it...

Appreciate the response, AR.

I think the Iowa hf advantage has caught up to them in the lines and I'm down on them as a program and I think that NW is going in the opposite direction.

They've both had success against pigs so far and we'll see how their defenses respond against more capable units. NW's QB's picks concern me as does their abilitiy to score TDs instead of FGs, but I think this game is close throughout.

n. mex st+4....

think this is a game that sets up well for the dog.

nm just lost their starting QB for the season and will be starting a qb (has a 40% completion rate & 4 ints) making his first start on the road & i think he may have problems because he has a young inexperienced group of receivers that is also adjusting to this particular level of football.....& because of this inexperience i think nm st can stack the box and take the run away and force the young qb into mistakes. also nm st returns 14 starters from a team that lost a close game last year to nm. this year nm st has a pretty good qb returning in holbrook & their 3 leading receivers back & 3 returning offensive lineman. nm st should come into this game with momentum after a road win last week at utep & i understand that nm st has had this game circled on their calendar since last year.

here is some info on new mexico that i came across....

Lobo back Ian Clark dislocated his shoulder and will miss the Lobos' upcoming game against New Mexico State.

The Lobos (1-3) face some considerable adjustments on both sides of the ball as they prepare for the annual in-state rivalry with the Aggies (1-1), a 34-33 winner over Texas-El Paso on Saturday night.

"We're going to have to tailor the offense to fit his particular skills," Long said of redshirt quarterback Brad Gruner, who inherits the starting job from Porterie. "He takes shots downfield. I think he looks downfield a little bit quicker or more (than Porterie)."

Long said asking a redshirt freshman with only one game's worth of experience to step in and lead the team out of adversity is a difficult task.
"People still expect us to win games," Long said. "For us to be a good football team, a lot depends on the play of the quarterback. If Brad matures into being a good quarterback as the season progresses, we'll be a good football team."

Without Clark or backup cornerback Jerome Jenkins ? he broke his ankle last week against Arizona and is gone for the season ? the Lobos are thin in the secondary. Starting CBs Glover Quin and DeAndre Wright both played the whole game against Tulsa.

Long said the Lobos would have to reevaluate their best 22 players on defense this week and didn't rule out a return to the 3-3-5 until Clark's return.

play on - home underdogs (nm st) - off a road win, in the first half of the season.

over that last 5 seasons the ats record is.....51-22.......69.9%

good luck

bbc....go with who you like...

but a question i ask myself is why is iowa laying so many points to an undefeated team ?

as our friend murphy says....good luck but i'm on the other side...or something like that....:142smilie

iowa-7...

i noticed that iowa coach ferentz has finally named stanzi as his qb, which means that he will not be yanking him & putting in the other qb & vice versa....never understood why coaches do this since a qb needs his reps during a game to get into the flow of the game.

I'd like to believe that the clueless Iowa coaching staff will go with Stanzi and let him make the mistakes he is guaranteed to make without pulling him and putting in the train wreck that is Christensen, but I won't hold my breath on that happening.
I'm with BBC; the Iowa program is fading and fading fast under the current regime and I like the energy and enthusiasm that Fitzgerald brings to the Wildcat program.
Fitzgerald also believes that the NW program is on par with Iowa's and he makes a point of emphasizing the Iowa game every season.
Will Iowa win the game on Saturday? I think so. Will the team overcome the horrendous coaching decisions and cover the 8/8.5 points? I don't believe they will...good luck with your plays this week, Ar...:D

duke-6.5(120)....

this is duke's 4th straight home game & think they are looking forward to this game because if they win they will snap a 25 game losing streak against acc opponents. duke has all of the edges in this game. they have an established qb, while viriginia's qb position is unsettled.duke's qb is leading the acc in total offense, averaging 274 ypg (#2 in passing average of 238 ypg)...duke is averaging 411 ypg on offense & allowing 308 ypg....while virginia is averaging 234 ypg on offense & allowing 419 ypg on defense....& virginia has been outscored by a combined 97-17 by the 2 fbs teams it has faced...meanwhile in duke's only loss this season they outgained nw 472-328 & outfirst downed them 29-14.

duke is 6-0 ats after playing a non-conference game over the last 2 seasons.

virginia is 8-21 ats in road games vs. good teams - outscoring opponents by 10+ ppg on the season since 1992.

groh is 14-25 ats in road games as the coach of virginia.

good luck

It sure seems odd to me to see Duke laying points for the 2nd straight week, but they sure do look pretty good in this spot. I'm going to play them as well.

earlier this week i played ark. st at pick-em....because i liked ark. st's balanced offense...for the year they are averaging 6.6 ypr & 9 yya.....while memphis rushing defense yields about 4.8 ypr....so i think ark. st can play some ball control & not expose their shaky secondary...

here are 2 money-line systems that favor ark. st that i thought some might find interesting...

play against - home underdogs vs. the money line (memphis) - a terrible team (<=25%) playing a team with a winning record, in non-conference games.

over the last 10 seasons the record is......24-1.........96%

over the last 3 seasons the situation's record is.......9-0

over the last 5 seasons the situation's record is......13-0

since 1992 the situation's record is..........35-2......94.5%

play on - a road team vs. the money line (ark. st) - excellent offensive team (>=6.2 YPP) against a team with a terrible defense (>=6.2 YPP), after gaining 6.25 or more yards/play in 2 consecutive games.

the record since 1992 is........23-2......92%

over the last 3 seasons the situation's record is.....4-0

over the last 5 seasons the situation's record is.......9-1

over the last 10 seasons the situation's record is......12-1.....92%

good luck
