Let's get a discussion going leading up to the first game. I know a lot of people will bet on Texas tonight at that price.

Question: Will a dog win at this year's CWS? (Faves 9-1)

Answer: Hell yeah, and there's a great chance it will happen today! Two underdogs facing elimination against two favorites riding in the driver's seat with a game in hand.

Becaue i need all the help I can get here, I do not follow college baseball and this is the only time of year I find myself watching it..... to compound matters i am a dog bettor and the chalk has been ruling the roost in this event. I have mad two wagers and have gone 0-2 so now that you know that here is what I am thinking....

Stanford was hitting the ball very well yesterday and sure they will face an all new pitching staff today than yesterday but I still think they will play a bit tougher because they need this to stay in and cal does not. Of course I am assuming Cal is much better and noticed many of the cws experts are picking them to go all the way so I am now more confused than ever....

who is it going to be experts?

I am leaning towards Stanford in the first game for the same reason. Stanford lost 6-5 to Fullerton in the first meeting, so you know the Cardinal are capable of beating CSF. Stanford must beat the Titans twice to knock them out of this tournament. Therefore, Stanford should come into today's game with more intensity and emotion than CSF. Having said that, it's tough betting against a favorite right now. :shrug:

P.S.

I'm watching line moves up until first pitch. Maybe that will give us the edge we need. I will post anything I see.

I have noticed if the line opened at -140 that it is down about a nickel as I have seen Cal St at -135.....

Just curious how team reacts to this situation of being eliminated, when do you start your ace?? It will be tough to decide when to put your best pitcher on the hill but when every game ould be your last you have to put him out there sometime....

Actually, the line opened in Vegas at CSF -135. Then, it opened offshore at CSF -140. So the line has actually gone up a nickel in our favor. Stay tuned!

this is what i am thinking..Cal is comfortable because they have beaten the Cradinal every game and they do not have a loss, and the cardinal needs this win and hit well yesterday so are seeing the ball well....throw in line movemnet and I like the cardinal ...

It looks like it's just us Scoop. I'm no expert, but I agree with you on Stanford. I can't find the pitching matchups. Any ideas? That would really help me solidify my play.

It looks like Hudgins (11-3, 3.18 ERA) will go for Stanford. PAC-10 pitcher of the year.

Nice work on the pitching match up for the cardinal, Stanford starting the Ace means they really are putting max effort into winning this one...I will dig for some info since I have more time than I thought

I think I like the dog in the second game rather than the first. CSF's pitching matches up well with Stanford, and if CSF has the lead in the late innings then forgot about it b/c Codero (sp?) for CSF is the best closer in college and he will shut the door. I think it will be a close game but in the end I like CSF to take care of business in the first game.

Wes Littleton (7-3, 3.73 ERA) gets the nod for CSF. The Titans originally thought about starting freshman Schreppel. Tough matchup for both teams!

That surprises me, I thought they would start Windsor. My guess is they are saving him in case they lose the first game. I may rethink my play in that maybe CSF is playing not to lose. Littleton pitching on 3 days rest, Windsor has 5 days. Now I am confused.

I saw that quote too. Here's some more info:

Littleton > 80 innings pitched - 80 hits
Hudgins > 149 innings pitched - 123 hits

Hi guys, nice little thread you got going.

Obviously Fullerton St and Rice are the favorites to win this thing, and I have a premonition Rice will win the whole thing in the long run.

With that said, I also think there's a good chance a dog will win one of today's game. The problem: which dog?

I think I am going to go with both dogs. That way, if I split, I still make some money. If both dogs win, jackpot!

With that said, I'm not going to put so much on either game that if they both lose it will make a big dent.

One tip -- the next time Rice pitches Niemann, go with Rice. He's the most dominating pitcher I've seen on the college level in a long time.
