Just ordered Comcast DVR which will be installed next week for $9.95 per month. Their DVR is a dual tuner which means you can record 2 shows at once or watch one show while taping another.
I can probably let you know my experience tomorrow, I have armstrong cable here which if understand correctly they are just the local reseller of comcast and I am getting the DVR system as well tomorrow so we will see how it works out. With my crazy ass work schedule I will give it a workout for sure.
im not to sure, probably the latest one though which is the dual tuner. should of called me, i could of gotten you 3 months free with free installation. i know they had to order a new batch of them, so you should be getting the one's fresh from the factory. if you still want the deal though, you have to cancel your current order than wait a week. goofy rules with Comcast.
Just got home from work today, it got installed yesterday and I had a rediculous case of the flu and didn't even get to use it yet. Really wanted to record the game last night but wasn't up to it.
Will let you know though. How about yours?
I live just outside of Chicago and today will be day 3 of Comcast dvr hell. The last TWO installers have almost no idea how to operate the dvr. The excuse is that "the dvr is so new that they're not very well informed on it's usage." Been a nightmare so far , hopefully installer #3 can get it right. If today's guy doesn't get it right he's taking the dvr with him and I will explore other options. Hopefully you will have better luck. Make sure your installer imparts what little knowledge he has before he walks out the door.
I have Tivo and I assume they are similar. Utopia made a good point, but I don't think there is any shortcuts to using the system. There are a lot of "manipulations" available, and aside from reading the manual repeatedly, it would be nice to have the installer demonstrate all the capabilities.....It took me quite a while to fully understand all the remote commands, etc. Once you get going, you'll love it..
I've got the Time Warner DVR and like njsf said, I don't know how we've lived w/out it. We've had it for about 2 years, it's got a ton of useful options, like when recording shows you can do 1st run, repeats etc.
Good news (hopefully), installer #3 was very very helpful. He said that the varying degrees of knowledge the diiferent installers have is quite wide. I'm thinking we just had 2 sh*t installers the first two attempts. Hope you get a good installer first time Davoso.
Funny story....
The comcast guy that installed mine COMPLETE idiot
I waited till he left then set it up the way I wanted to
He had the output at 480p. I said well thats not gonna give me HD. He was foreign...he says " Well there are 2 kinds of HD TVs ..some are like apples some are like oranges..this box turns them into mangos." I was like WHAT?!?...OK your done....cya
then kicked him out of my house...finished laughing at him then fixed it the way I needed it to be. What a jackass. :cursin:
