I am a computer retard--how do I scan something? I want to scan something and then send it out on e-mail--thanks.

xp or vista ?
should be able to click on the printer desktop icon..select scan and save..place object to be scanned in bin..save to whatever file you want..go to e-mail...select add attachment..click on that file and click on that pic.

Hawk, did your all in one printer come with an installation disk ? Most do, and have some software that includes guides that should hold your hand and walk you right through the process. With many of todays printers being plug and play you may not have installed all the software that came with your printer. Just go to your programs list and see if its there, if not try to install the program.
If you don't want to go through all of that crap Old School's advice is solid as usual.Once you get through it once its like riding a bike and you should be good to go in the future.
