This is a friend of mine's email

I don't know a thing about computers

Any help would be greatly appreciated:D

As you see, I am up and running, somewhat! My printer and scanner won't work after my computer crashed. (My boss had to reload windows 98 for me) I have tried loading and reloading the printer and scanner, and nothing seems to help. On the printer, I get a response of Out of Paper. I have searched my books and tried everything and nothing seems to help. I am now in 9.0 AOL and that solved the problem of when my Internet Explorer was 5.02 and I needed 60. to load the Virus protection. The new loading brought up the numbers automatically and then I was able to load the new Norton.
Have you got any Ideas? Or, Have you ever seen this problem before? I have loaded and unloaded each of them 3 times. Love, Barb

Reloading W98 retains the old registry. If it were my computer I would do a clean reformat.

As far as reloading the printer and scanner, I would first try to make sure they are completely eradicated. See if there is an 'uninstall' feature for each of them, and delete them completely before reinstalling them.

As far as running AOL to enable installing Norton, that is a concept that makes me shudder on at least a couple levels.
